The range and physical size of an object may be determined from a sequence of image size measurements as an object is approached. The inverse image size is linear with the distance travelled by the camera. A recursive (Kalman) estimator is used to give the object range and size. Results are presented for an example image sequence.

Image compression is the application of Data compression on digital images. The discrete cosine transform (DCT) is a technique for converting a signal into elementary frequency components. It is widely used in image compression. Here we develop some simple functions to compute the DCT and to compress images. An image compression algorithm was comprehended using Matlab code, and modified to perf...

In recent days, images play a vital role in a wide range of applications. Some of the significant application fields such as medical, education, surveillance also utilize images. Images are of large size and hence they are difficult to transmit and store. Images need compression for effective transmission and storage. A wide of range of compression techniques are available in the literature. So...

In medical image analysis there is frequently a need to invert dense displacement fields which map one image space to another. In this paper we describe inversion techniques and determine their accuracy in the context of 18 inter-subject brain image registrations. Scattered data interpolation (SDI) is used to initialise locally and globally consistent iterative techniques. The inverse-consisten...

Electro-optic (EO) images exhibit the properties of high resolution and low noise level, while it is a challenge to distinguish objects with infrared (IR), especially for objects with similar temperatures. In earlier work, we proposed a novel framework for IR image enhancement based on the information (e.g., edge) from EO images. Our framework superimposed the detected edges of the EO image wit...

As international relations develop into a network-like arena, new public diplomacy receives more attention, both in research and in practice. At the same time, with the increasing role of non-state actors in international relations, their significant roles and functions have come under substantial scientific analysis. While companies engage in business abroad,  unintended results may emerge, af...

(a) Prove that there exists a (left-right) inverse σ(t) in K [[t]] to the image of λ(t) if and only if a0 is invertible in K. In this case, prove that the inverse σ(t) is unique. More generally, for every element a0− a1t+ . . . in K [[t]], prove that the element is invertible if and only if a0 is invertible in K, in which case the inverse is unique. (b) Assume that λ(t) ∈ K[t] has an inverse σ(...

Electro-optic (EO) image sensors exhibit the properties of high resolution and low noise level at daytime, but they do not work in dark environments. Infrared (IR) image sensors exhibit poor resolution and cannot separate objects with similar temperature. Therefore, we propose a novel framework of IR image enhancement based on the information (e.g., edge) from EO images, which improves the reso...

Image restoration is an essential issue in high level image processing which deals with recovering of an original and sharp image using a degradation and restoration model. Through image acquisition process degradation occurs. Image restoration is used to estimate the unique image from the degraded data. The degradations include half toning, dithering and security watermarks. An iterative image...

Any permutation with a low differential uniformity is shown to be such that its inverse has a derivative with a large image set. An attack exploiting this structural property is then presented against a recent hash function proposal, named Maraca, submitted to the SHA-3 competition. Moreover, the attack can be made much more efficient when the image sets of the derivatives of the inverse permut...
