Error indicators based on solution gradients, interpolation errors, and a posteriori error estimates are presented for use in deening monitor functions for the r-adaptive nite element methods based on moving mesh partial diierential equations. The methods are compared with a careful selection of examples. The numerical results show that the methods based on both interpolation errors and a poste...

Deformed cross-dissolves are methods for inconspicuous interpolation between images. We describe algorithms for deformation based on scattered data interpolation methods and an improved cross-dissolve algorithm ooering better performance than a normal bidirectional cross-dissolve. Results for interpolation in the eld of medical visualization are presented.

Land seismic data acquisition in most of cases suffers from obstacles in fields which deviates geometry of the real acquired data from what was designed. These obstacles will cause gaps, narrow azimuth and offset limitation in the data. These shortcomings, not only prevents regular trace distribution in bins, but also distorts the subsurface image by reducing illumination of the target formatio...

We consider the problem of image interpolation from an adaptive optimal recovery point of view. Many different standard interpolation approaches may be viewed through the prism of optimal recovery. In this paper we review some standard image interpolation methods and how they relate to optimal recovery as well as introduce a broader, more general and systematic approach to image interpolation u...

Fuzzy Hermite interpolation of 5th degree generalizes Lagrange interpolation by fitting a polynomial to a function f that not only interpolates f at each knot but also interpolates two number of consecutive Generalized Hukuhara derivatives of f at each knot. The provided solution for the 5th degree fuzzy Hermite interpolation problem in this paper is based on cardinal basis functions linear com...

The concept and the computation of terrain representation error (ETR) are investigated and total DEM error is presented as an accuracy index for DEM evaluation at a global level. A promising method of surface modelling based on the theorem of surfaces (SMTS) has been developed. A numerical test and a real-world example are employed to comparatively analyze the simulation accuracy of SMTS and th...

Background: Medical image interpolation is recently introduced as a helpful tool to obtain further information via initial available images taken by tomography systems. To do this, deformable image registration algorithms are mainly utilized to perform image interpolation using tomography images.Materials and Methods: In this work, 4DCT thoracic images of five real patients provided by DI...

The essentially non-oscillatory (ENO) method is an efficient high order numerical method for solving hyperbolic conservation laws designed to reduce the Gibbs oscillations, if existent, by adaptively choosing the local stencil for the interpolation. The original ENO method is constructed based on the polynomial interpolation and the overall rate of convergence provided by the method is uniquely...
