Interior-point methods possess strong theoretical properties and have been successfully applied to a wide variety of linear and nonlinear programming applications. This paper presents a class of algorithms, based on interior-point methodology, for performing regularized maximum likelihood reconstructions on 3-D emission tomography data. The algorithms solve a sequence of subproblems that conver...

In this paper, we present a new path-following interior-point algorithm for -horizontal linear complementarity problems (HLCPs). The algorithm uses only full-Newton steps which has the advantage that no line searchs are needed. Moreover, we obtain the currently best known iteration bound for the algorithm with small-update method, namely, , which is as good as the linear analogue.

In this paper, we consider an interior point method for nonlinear semidefinite programming. Yamashita, Yabe and Harada presented a primal-dual interior point method in which a nondifferentiable merit function was used. By using shifted barrier KKT conditions, we propose a differentiable primal-dual merit function within the framework of the line search strategy, and prove the global convergence...

Every convex set in the plane gives rise to geometric functionals such as the area, perimeter, diameter, width, inradius and circumradius. In this paper, we prove new inequalities involving these geometric functionals for planar convex sets containing zero or one interior lattice point. We also conjecture two results concerning sets containing one interior lattice point. Finally, we summarize k...

The n-interior point variant of the Erdős-Szekeres problem is the following: for any n, n ≥ 1, does there exist a g(n) such that every point set in the plane with at least g(n) interior points has a convex polygon containing exactly n-interior points. The existence of g(n) has been proved only for n ≤ 3. In this paper, we show that, for point sets having at most logarithmic number of convex lay...

ABSTRACT. We study and compare preconditioners available for network interior point methods. We derive upper bounds for the condition number of the preconditioned matrices used in the solution of systems of linear equations defining the algorithm search directions. The preconditioners are tested using PDNET, a state-of-the-art interior point code for the minimum cost network flow problem. A com...

In this paper, we have analyzed a mathematical model for the study of interaction between tumor cells and oncolytic viruses. The model is analyzed using stability theory of differential equations. We gain some conditions for global stability of trivial and interior equilibrium point.

Penalty and interior-point methods for nonlinear optimization problems have enjoyed great successes for decades. Penalty methods have proved to be effective for a variety of problem classes due to their regularization effects on the constraints. They have also been shown to allow for rapid infeasibility detection. Interior-point methods have become the workhorse in large-scale optimization due ...

Optimization using alternating minimization (AM) alternately minimizes an objective function with respect to two disjoint subsets of a function's parameters. AM algorithms are useful for optimization problems which can be decomposed into convex subproblems. AM algorithms have recently appeared in the neural computing community. This paper examines the use of recently developed Interior Point (I...
