By means of Morse theory we prove the existence of a nontrivial solution to a su-perlinear p-harmonic elliptic problem with Navier boundary conditions having a linking structure around the origin. Moreover, in case of both resonance near zero and nonresonance at +∞ the existence of two nontrivial solutions is shown.

We predict a direct and observable signature of the superfluid phase in a quantum Fermi gas, in a temperature regime already accessible in current experiments. We apply the theory of resonance superfluidity to a gas confined in a harmonic potential and demonstrate that a significant increase in density will be observed in the vicinity of the trap center.

The local frequency dependent mobility of one-dimensional interacting fermionic atoms in the harmonic trap is calculated using a phase operator formalism. We demonstrate generation and frequency doubling of unit charge vortices in a linear astigmatic resonator. Topological instability of the double charge harmonic vortices leads to well separated vortex cores that are shown to rotate, and become anisotropic, as the resonator is tuned across resonance.
