Differential properties for orthogonal polynomials in several variables are studied. We consider multivariate orthogonal polynomials whose gradients satisfy some quasi–orthogonality conditions. We obtain several characterizations for these polynomials including the analogous of the semiclas-sical Pearson differential equation, the structure relation and a differential– difference equation.

We use generating functions to express orthogonality relations in the form of q-beta integrals. The integrand of such a q-beta integral is then used as a weight function for a new set of orthogonal or biorthogonal functions. This method is applied to the continuous q-Hermite polynomials, the Al-Salam-Carlitz polynomials, and the polynomials of Szegő and leads naturally to the Al-Salam-Chihara p...

For discrete multiple orthogonal polynomials such as the multiple Charlier polynomials, the multiple Meixner polynomials, and the multiple Hahn polynomials, we first find a lowering operator and then give a (r + 1)th order difference equation by combining the lowering operator with the raising operator. As a corollary, explicit third order difference equations for discrete multiple orthogonal p...

Monotonicity of zeros of orthogonal Laurent polynomials associated with a strong distribution with respect to a parameter is discussed. A natural analog of a classical result of A. Markov is proved. Recent results of Ismail and Muldoon based on the Hellman-Feynman theorem are also extended to a monotonicity criterion for zeros of Laurent polynomials. Results concerning the behaviour of extreme ...

The nonlinear integral equation P (x) = ∫ β α dy w(y)P (y)P (x + y) is investigated. It is shown that for a given function w(x) the equation admits an infinite set of polynomial solutions P (x). For polynomial solutions, this nonlinear integral equation reduces to a finite set of coupled linear algebraic equations for the coefficients of the polynomials. Interestingly, the set of polynomial sol...

in this paper we introduce a type of fractional-order polynomials basedon the classical chebyshev polynomials of the second kind (fcss). also we construct the operationalmatrix of fractional derivative of order $ gamma $ in the caputo for fcss and show that this matrix with the tau method are utilized to reduce the solution of some fractional-order differential equations.

The family of orthogonal polynomials corresponding to a generalized Jacobi weight function was considered by Wheeler and Gautschi who derived recurrence relations, both for the related Chebyshev moments and for the associated orthogonal polynomials. We obtain an explicit representation of these polynomials, from which the recurrence relation can be derived.

In this paper, we introduce the notion of Dunkl-classical orthogonal polynomials. Then, we show that generalized Hermite and generalized Gegenbauer polynomials are the only Dunkl-classical symmetric orthogonal polynomials by solving a suitable differential-difference equation. 2006 Elsevier Inc. Relation between two sequences of orthogonal polynomials, where the associated measures are related to each other by a first degree polynomial multiplication (or division), is well known. We use this relation to study the monotonicity properties of the zeros of generalized orthogonal polynomials. As examples, the Jacobi, Laguerre and Charlier polynomials are considered.  2005 Elsevier Inc. All...

Orthogonal zero interpolants (OZI) are polynomials which interpolate the “zero-function” at a finite number of pre-assigned nodes and satisfy orthogonality condition. OZI’s can be constructed by the 3-term recurrence relation. These interpolants are found useful in the solution of constrained approximation problems and in the structure of Gauss-type quadrature rules. We present some theoretical...
