Monosomy 21 is a rare human disease due to gene dosage errors disturbing a variety of physiological and morphological systems including brain, skeletal, immune and respiratory functions. Most of the human condition corresponds to partial or mosaic monosomy suggesting that Monosomy 21 may be lethal. In order to search for dosage-sensitive genes involved in the human pathology, we generated by ch...

The association of hemodialysis dosage with patient survival is controversial. Here, we tested the hypothesis that methods for survival analysis may influence conclusions regarding dialysis dosage and mortality. We analyzed all-cause mortality by proportional hazards and accelerated failure time regression models in a cohort of incident hemodialysis patients who were followed for 9 yr. Both mod...

A target-based MADM method covers beneficial and non-beneficial attributes besides target values for some attributes. Such techniques are considered as the comprehensive forms of MADM approaches. Target-based MADM methods can also be used in traditional decision-making problems in which beneficial and non-beneficial attributes only exist. In many practical selection problems, some attributes ha...

BACKGROUND In Phase 3 double-blind trials (MS-F203 and MS-F204), dalfampridine extended release tablets 10 mg twice daily (dalfampridine-ER; prolonged-release fampridine in Europe; fampridine modified or sustained release elsewhere) improved walking speed relative to placebo in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). OBJECTIVES Evaluation of long-term safety and efficacy of dalfampridine-ER in...

In diacetylmorphine prescription programs for heavily dependent addicts, diacetylmorphine is usually administered intravenously, but this may not be possible due to venosclerosis or when heroin abuse had occurred via non-intravenous routes. Since up to 25% of patients administer diacetylmorphine orally, we characterised morphine absorption after single oral doses of immediate and extended relea...

In a group of young patients with thalassaemia and iron overload treated by subcutaneous infusions of desferrioxamine we have found a number of minor alterations in retinal function. The incidence of such changes is not related to drug dosage or to ferritin level but to abnormality of the extended glucose tolerance test.

The pharmacokinetics of amikacin administered intravenously at currently recommended doses (7.5 mg/kg every 12 h for infants with less than 7 days of life; 7.5 mg/kg every 8 h for infants with greater than 7 days of life) were studied in 28 preterm infants weighing less than 2,500 g (mean +/- standard deviation, 1.38 +/- 0.47 kg; postconceptional age, 30.50 +/- 2.86 weeks). The medication was i...
