We investigate the triple-alpha process and the Oklo phenomenon to obtain constraints on possible cosmological time variations of fundamental constants. Specifically we study cosmological temporal constraints for the fine structure constant and nucleon and meson masses.

We discuss strategies to determine hadronic decay couplings from lattice studies. As an application, we explore the decay of a vector meson to two pseudoscalar mesons with Nf = 2 flavours of sea quark. Although we are working with quark masses that do not allow a physical decay, we show how the transition rate can be evaluated from the amplitude for ρ→ ππ and from the annihilation component of ...

It is shown that a finite system of coupled mixing tent maps has a unique absolutely continuous invariant measure and is exact with respect to this measure provided the coupling strength does not exceed a certain value 2uni which is independent of the size of the system.

We find a one-parameter family of new G2 holonomy metrics and demonstrate that it can be extended to a two-parameter family. These metrics play an important role as the supergravity dual of the large N limit of four dimensional supersymmetric Yang-Mills. We show that these G2 holonomy metrics describe the M theory lift of the supergravity solution describing a collection of D6-branes wrapping t...

A final analysis of Jπ = 0+ → 0+ super-allowed Fermi transitions yields |Vud| = 0.9500±0.0007; |Vud|+ |Vus|+ |Vub| = 0.9999±0.0011 with the operational vector coupling constant GV /(h̄c) 3 = (1.15052 ± 0.00021) × 10−5 GeV−2.

We show that high energy scattering is a statistical process essentially similar to reaction-diffusion in a system made of a finite number of particles. The BalitskyJIMWLK equations correspond to the time evolution law for the particle density. The squared strong coupling constant plays the role of the minimum particle density. Discreteness is related to the finite number of partons one may obs...

We further develop the reduced action formalism of the SU(2)-Higgs model originally given by Aoyama et.al.. Our new ansatz for the sphaleron solution makes it possible to apply this formalism to all range of the Higgs self coupling constant. Based on the formalism, we construct a bounce solution oscillating around the sphaleron.

An estimate has been made of the masses of heavy hadrons in nonrelativistic quark model, which includes spin and flavor-dependent hyperfine splitting for two quarks. The effect of variation of the wavefunction value at origin i.e. |ψ(0)| and the strong coupling constant αs, with flavor, has also been included in calculating the mass values.

We discuss the impact of precision measurements of σ(e + e − → hadrons) in the center-of-mass range between 3 and 12 GeV, including improvements in the electronic widths of the narrow charmonium and bottonium resonances, on the determination of parameters of the Standard Model. In particular we discuss the impact of potential improvements on the extraction of the strong coupling constant α s , ...
