Introduction: Ensuring an adequate Depth of Anesthesia (DOA) during surgery is essential for anesthesiologists. Since the effect of anesthetic drugs is on the central nervous system, brain signals such as Electroencephalogram (EEG) can be used for DOA estimation. Anesthesia can interfere among brain regions, so the relationship among different areas can be a key factor in the anesthetic process...

THE material used in earlier studies of the immediate and remote effects of injury upon the human e.e.g. (Williams, 1941 (a) and (b)) gave little information upon the relationship of these effects to the development of traumatic epilepsy. In the three years which have since elapsed much more data have been accumulated on traumatic epilepsy, and more definite conclusions than were possible at th...

Thirty-two linear regression equations predict the frequency composition of the electroencephalogram within four frequency bands, for four bilateral regions of the brain, as a function of age. Equations based on such data from large groups of healthy children in the United States and Sweden are closely similar. These equations describe the development of the electrical activity of the normal hu...

Migraine is associated with a variety of electroencephalographic (EEG) changes. Previous studies using analogue EEG and old diagnostic criteria may under or over report the prevalence of EEG changes in migraine. The objective of this study was to reevaluate the EEG changes in migraine patients diagnosed by applying the new International Classification of Headache Disorder -2 criteria. This was ...

We report a video-electroencephalogram study of a 50-year-old woman who developed a clinical picture consisting of stereotyped periodic eye opening followed by eye closing, with or without swallowing movements, after a prolonged cardiopulmonary arrest. These movements were associated with a burst-suppression pattern on the electroencephalogram. [Published with video sequences].
