A new approach to spatialisation, based on the idea of projecting sounds through virtual sounding objects, is proposed, and initial experiments are carried out using a modal synthesis model of a rectangular membrane. The effects of varying the dimensions and damping parameters of the model on the perception of spatial attributes are discussed, as well as the relevance to sound diffusion.

The bathymetry around Antarctica can govern the shelf sea circulations and play a key role in conditioning water masses. In Prydz Bay, Bay Gyre coastal currents are also determined by continental topography. However, due to paucity of beam echo sounding data, bathymetric datasets still have large uncertainties. With aid situ hydrographic observations, this study focuses on correction an up-to-d...

Abstract Modern technologies give an opportunity to create a large number of bathymetric maps, but less them have been focused on processing the water depth data in order study and estimate subterranean sources object supply. This aims mechanism for estimating productivity lakes supply, based survey data. Lake Svitiaz was chosen as site deepest closed lake natural origin Ukraine with area 2500 ...

We present a technique that modifies and extends down-hole target methods to provide absolute measures of uncertainty in radar-reflector depth of origin. We use ice-core profiles to model wave propagation and reflection, and then cross-correlate the model results with radio-echo sounding (RES) data to identify the depth of reflector events. Stacked traces recorded with RES near the EPICA drill ...

crowdsourcing should be aware of the approach’s significant limitations and biases, and of the need to sort through and verify large amounts of information of uneven reliability. Furthermore, crowdsourcing tends to work better when the goal is to quickly compile and share knowledge that is already available, rather than as a means to engage in original research. Crowdsourcing cannot replace mor...

Non-visual senses can be used in toys to enhance and enrich the play experience. Previous research has shown that – especially for young children developing sensory-motor skills – exploration and play are two tightly linked activities: everything is new and needs to be “studied”, and playful behaviors emerge from active exploration. The main idea of this paper is to provide a new approach in de...
