Frozen tissue sections were applied directly to silica gel plates, and the lipids were separated by developing the plates in different solvent systems. Quantitation of the lipid classes was achieved by direct transmission densitometry after the plates were treated with a chromic acid-sulfuric acid spray.

Implicit solvation models are popular alternatives to explicit solvent methods due to their ability to "pre-average" solvent behavior and thus reduce the need for computationally-expensive sampling. Previously, we have demonstrated that Poisson-Boltzmann models for polar solvation and integral-based models for nonpolar solvation can reproduce explicit solvation forces in a low-charge density pr...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of 3 solvents (eucalyptol, orange oil, and xylol) on 2 types of gutta-percha (conventional and thermoplastic) and Resilon. Specimens (10 mm diameter x 1 mm thick; n=7 per condition) were prepared and maintained at 37 degrees C for 48 h. Each specimen was weighed on a precision scale every 24 h until its mass was stable, at which time the i...

This study describes a method for off-line coupling of thin-layer chromatography (TLC) with electron impact ionization (El)-mass spectrometry for routine determination of pesticides in toxicology and forensic medicine. Six TLC solvent systems are described for 151 different pesticides, and 8-peak mass-spectra generated from full El mass spectra are listed.

Photon echo and resonant transient grating signals are calculated for the hydrated electron based on the results of quantum molecular dynamics simulations. The echo decays in < 15 fs. Comparison to echo calculations for organic probes and different solvent response functions reveals the origin of this ultrafast dephasing. For the strongly coupled hydrated electron, small changes in solvent conf...

During cellulose dissolution in non-derivatizing solvents, the interand intramolecular hydrogen bonds of the polymer are deconstructed. This occurs either by hydrogen bond formation between one or more components of the solvent systems and the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose or by coordination bond formation between the metal ion present in the medium and the hydroxyl group of cellulose molecu...

Synthesis of hydroxyapatite (HA) through sol-gel process in different solvent systems is reported. Calcium nitrate tetrahydrate (CNTH) and diammonium hydrogen phosphate (DAHP) were used as calcium and phosphorus precursors, respectively. Three different synthesis reactions were carried out by changing the solvent media, while keeping all other process parameters constant. A measure of 0.5 M aqu...

Lipidome profile of fluids and tissues is a growing field as the role of lipids as signaling molecules is increasingly understood, relying on an effective and representative extraction of the lipids present. A number of solvent systems suitable for lipid extraction are commonly in use, though no comprehensive investigation of their effectiveness across multiple lipid classes has been carried ou...

cinnamon is the bark the cinnamomi cassia that exhibits many medical properties such as anti-cancer effect and anti-diabetic effect. moreover, because of its antioxidant activity; it can be used in food industries. many studies have already reported biological and chemical properties of the cinnamon extracted essential oil such as their antimicrobial, antifungal, antimosquito, free radical scav...

Cyclic voltammograms, at the carbon paste electrode were recorded for -tocopherol dissolved in surfactant + ethanol + water and surfactant+acetonitrile+water mixed solvent systems containing ammonia. The oxidation potential of the vitamin was found to vary with a change in the surfactant, being more positive in cationic surfactants as compared to the anionic or nonionic surfactants. Differentia...
