Zeolite encapsulated Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes with 2-methyl benzimidazole (Mebzlh) have been used to catalyze the reaction of styrene oxide with acetone under reflux condition. The yield of the isolated product using various catalysts range from good to excellent and the efficiency of the recycled catalyst was excellent.
The applicability of a novel silicon precursor with respect to reasonable nanowire (NW) growth rates, feasibility of epitaxial NW growth and versatility with respect to diverse catalysts was investigated. Epitaxial growth of Si-NWs was achieved using octochlorotrisilane (OCTS) as Si precursor and Au as catalyst. In contrast to the synthesis approach with SiCl(4) as precursor, OCTS provides Si w...
Catalytic asymmetric [2,3] sigmatropic rearrangement of sulfur ylides generated from aryldiazoacetates and propargyl sulfides with a number of chiral Rh(II) and Cu(I) catalysts have been investigated and moderately high enantioselectivities (up to 81% ee) have been achieved. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. Remarkable generality in scope of DATs/Cu catalysts for enantioselective nitroaldol reaction is described; excellent levels of stereoinduction are recorded for a range of aldehydes (ee 81-99%, 17 examples) and the possibility to employ the present catalytic system as the key step for the preparation of highly functionalized tetrahydro-isoquinolines is demonstrated.
A copper(I)-phosphine complex has been found to facilely promote the distannylation of alkynes with the aid of a base, where a catalytically generated Cu-Sn species serves as a key intermediate. The broad versatility of the copper catalysis has been demonstrated by the facile distannylation of unfunctionalized aliphatic alkynes, being hardly achievable with the conventional palladium catalysts.
Colloidal solutions of ZnO-Cu nanoparticles can be used as catalysts for the reduction of carbon dioxide with hydrogen. The use of phosphinate ligands for the synthesis of the nanoparticles from organometallic precursors improves the reductive stability and catalytic activity of the system.
Structured catalysts for the simultaneous removal of soot and nitrogen oxides were prepared by means of coating cordierite monoliths with alumina-based suspensions containing Cu, Co or Fe and Cs as the catalytically active phase. Textural and chemical properties of the coated monoliths were determined by means of N2-physisorption, SEM and temperature programmed reduction. Their activity in the ...
Ordered nanoporous silicas containing various binary copper-manganese oxides were prepared as catalytic systems for effective carbon monoxide elimination. The carbon monoxide elimination efficiency was demonstrated as a function of the [Mn]/[Cu] ratio and reaction time. The prepared catalysts were characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, small- and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (XRD...
[reaction: see text] A series of beta-thio group substituted alpha-diazo carbonyl compounds have been prepared by nucleophilic substitution reactions of thiophenol, thionaphthol, or benzyl mercaptan with beta-acetoxy-alpha-diazo carbonyl compounds. The diazo decomposition of these diazo carbonyl compounds with various transition metal catalysts, including Rh(II) carboxylates and Cu(I) and Cu(II...
