Let K be a bounded, closed, and convex subset of a Banach space. For a Lipschitzian self-mapping A of K , we denote by Lip(A) its Lipschitz constant. In this paper, we establish a convergence property of infinite products of Lipschitzian self-mappings of K . We consider the set of all sequences {At}t=1 of such selfmappings with the property limsupt→∞ Lip(At) ≤ 1. Endowing it with an appropriate...

Homogeneous hydrogenation of barbituric acid derivatives with parahydrogen yields a substantial increase of the (1)H NMR signals of the reaction products. These physiologically relevant compounds were hydrogenated at both ambient and elevated temperatures and pressures using a standard cationic rhodium catalyst. The resulting nonthermal nuclear spin polarization (hyperpolarization) is limited b...

The products of the reaction of OClO with NO3 were investigated between 220 and 298 K using a flow reactor and infrared, visible, and ultraviolet analysis. At temperatures below 250 K new infrared and ultraviolet absorption features were observed and assigned to the novel compound chloryl nitrate (OZClON02). Additionally, ClO and NOz were observed as reaction products, indicating the existence ...

A new term in the p-adic world-sheet action is proposed, which couples a constant B-field to the boundary of the world-sheet at disk level. The induced deformation of tachyon scattering amplitudes by star-products is derived. This is in agreement with the deformation of effective action postulated in recent investigations of noncommutative solitons in p-adic string theory.

Using algebraic approach we implement a constant time algorithm for computing the domination numbers of the Cartesian products of paths and cycles. Closed formulas are given for domination numbers γ(Pn Ck) (for k ≤ 11, n ∈ N) and domination numbers γ(Cn Pk) and γ(Cn Ck) (for k ≤ 7, n ∈ N).

A famous “curious identity” of Wallis gives a representation of the constant π in terms of a simply structured infinite product of fractions. Sondow and Yi [Amer. Math. Monthly 117 (2010), 912-917] identified a general scheme for evaluating Wallis-type infinite products. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss an interpretation of the scheme by means of Pólya urn models.

For every odd prime number p, we give examples of non-constant smooth families of curves of genus 2 over fields of characteristic p which have pro-Galois (pro-étale) covers of infinite degree with geometrically connected fibers. The Jacobians of the curves are isomorphic to products of elliptic curves.

In the previous chapter, the components of electroless nickel plating baths were discussed from the viewpoint of the function each performs in the bath, with little attention paid to their effect on the plating process. The metal and the electron source (the reducing agent) are consumed in the electroless plating reaction and so their concentrations in the bath are continuously decreasing. Ther...

Because known pathogens become increasingly resistant to antibiotics, and at the same time, new threats to human health emerge, there is a constant need for the discovery of novel natural products. Microorganisms have a longstanding tradition as a source of biologically active small molecules – termed “secondary metabolites“ – and in addition to well-known producers like the actinomycetes, new ...
