Visible-light-responsive anatase TiO(2) platelets with dominant {001} facets were prepared via a facile nitridation reaction from a TiOF(2) precursor. The in situ co-doping of N and F in the anatase TiO(2) nanoparticles leads to drastically enhanced absorption and excellent water oxidation performance in the visible light region.
Monochiral single-walled carbon nanotubes have many potential uses, especially in the field of electronics and medical applications. Here we demonstrate a method to activate three types of Co/SiO(2) catalysts via sulfur-doping for the synthesis of tubes with a narrow chiral distribution around (9,8) chirality.

Carbon materials that are intrinsically co-doped with nitrogen and sulfur heteroatoms are synthesised by facile annealing of nitrile-functionalised thiazolium salts. Extremely high degrees of doping are achieved, especially for sulfur. The method further allows for direct tuning of the amounts of both N and S, establishing a new synthetic pathway in the emerging field of S-doped carbon materials.
N and S co-doped carbon quantum dots (N, S-CQDs) with high N- and S-doping level were synthesized by microwave solid-phase pyrolysis within 50 s. Owing to the dominant pyridinic N injection into the conjugated framework, both high enzyme mimics catalytic activity and photoluminescence quantum yield are achieved simultaneously.
