nanobiotechnology appears to be an emerging science which leads to new developments in the field of medicine. importance of the magnetic nanomaterials in biomedical science cannot be overlooked. the most commonly used chemical methods to synthesize drugable magnetic nanobeads are co-precipitation, thermal decomposition and microemulsion. however monodispersion, selection of an appropriate coati...

Cell-permeable chemical inhibitors have become invaluable reagents for the study of cellular regulation. In the present paper, using protein kinase inhibitors as the example, a set of criteria are described that should be met before any investigation using such compounds should be accepted for publication.

Aldehyde hydrates are important but highly unstable, transient intermediates in biological and synthetic oxidations to carboxylic acids. We here report N-oxides as the first class of chemical reagents capable of stabilizing such water adducts. This stabilizing effect (studied in solution and in the solid state) seems to be based on the formation of hydrogen bonds.

The use of coumarin dyes adsorbed on titanium dioxide (TiO2, P25) successfully extended the photocatalytic UV response of TiO2 toward visible light region. The hydrogenation of acetophenone (AP) using TiO2 modified with coumarin dyes proceeded with good chemical efficiencies under visible light irradiation. The role of sacrificial reagents on this dye-sensitized system is also reported.

Peptidyl prolyl thioesters, which have been regarded as too unreactive for practical use in native chemical ligations (NCLs), were proven to be versatile reagents in peptide coupling. Tuning the reactivity of prolyl thioesters enabled a one-pot/sequential NCL reaction based on kinetically controlled ligation.

The roots of Ichnocarpus frutescens (L) R.Br. (Apocynaceae) are used in indigenous system of medicine. The present study on phytochemical characteristics of root powder, namely behavior with different chemical reagents, fluorescent behaviour, extractive values, colour and consistency and qualitative phytochemical studies are useful for identification and conformation of its authenticity.

Organic azides are key motifs in compounds of relevance to chemical biology, medicinal chemistry and materials science. In addition, they also serve as useful building blocks due to their remarkable reactivity. Therefore, the development of efficient protocols to synthesize these compounds is of great significance. This paper reviews the major applications and development of azidation in difunc...

This study surveyed strategies of sequencing primer selection and evaluated primer performance in automated DNA sequencing. We asked participants to relate their preferred primer design strategies to identify primer characteristics that are considered most important in sequencing primer design. The participants preferred primers of 18-24 nucleotides (nt), 39%-58% G + C, a melting temperature (T...

FROM FAME TO OSTRACISM: EIGHT REAGENTS THAT LEFT THE LABORATORY ENVIRONMENT. Historical aspects related to eight reagents that were present in analytical chemistry laboratories the first decades of twentieth century are described. They have peculiarities based on their curious names or purposes for which they intended. Their presence laboratory environment reflected industrial applications and ...
