During cardiovascular development, tight spatiotemporal regulation of molecular cues is essential for controlling endothelial cell (EC) migration. Secreted class III Semaphorins play an important role in guidance of neuronal cell migration and were lately linked to regulating cardiovascular development. Recently, SEMA3D gene disruptions were associated with cardiovascular defects in patients; h...

We investigated whether contour-shape processing mechanisms are selective for color direction using the shape-frequency and shape-amplitude after-effects, or SFAE and SAAE [Gheorghiu, E. & Kingdom, F. A. A. (2006). Luminance-contrast properties of contour-shape processing revealed through the shape-frequency after-effect. Vision Research, 46(21), 3603-3615. Gheorghiu, E. & Kingdom, F. A. A. In this paper we prove that there exists a unique positive symmetrical univariate B-spline with minimal support. It is obtained as linear combination of a minimal number of successive classical B-splines with multiple knots in the space, S d , of cardinal polynomial splines of class C and degree d. Next, we show that the approximation order in the space generated by the integer translates of th...

We consider the problem of the reconstruction of an oversampled band-limited signal and obtain an explicit expression for the reconstruction function with minimal -norm. It has good sparseness and localization properties that recommends its use in time-delay estimation but the result may be of interest in other domains. Compared to the standard sine cardinal reconstruction function, its rate of...

In this paper we introduce and examine a cardinal invariant Ab closely connected to the addition of bounded functions from R to R. It is analogous to the invariant A defined earlier for arbitrary functions by T. Natkaniec. In particular, it is proved that each bounded function can be written as the sum of two bounded almost continuous functions, and an example is given that there is a bounded f...

Integration of blood vessels and organ primordia determines organ shape and function. The head kidney in the zebrafish interacts with the dorsal aorta (DA) and the posterior cardinal vein (PCV) to achieve glomerular filtration and definitive hematopoiesis, respectively. How the head kidney co-develops with both the axial artery and vein remains unclear. We found that in endodermless sox32-defic...

A new method for modeling functions that intersect given points is developed and demonstrated. This method yields a generally non-Gaussian probability density of y given x that has properties which are often desired in practice. It is shown that this density can have a smoother mean function and a variance which is never larger than that of a classic Gaussian process density.

This paper will present a brief set-theoretic construction of the natural numbers before discussing in detail the ordinal and cardinal numbers. It will then investigate the relationship between the two proper classes, in particular the similar difficulties in discussing the size of the classes. We will end with a short section on the cardinalities of well-known infinite sets with which the read...

How do we reason with imprecise spatial descriptions? Do reasoners typically prefer one conclusion (over another) consistent with the imprecise descriptions? Based on empirical findings we are able to give a positive answer for the second question for spatial reasoning with cardinal direction relations. Analyzing further the pattern of the preferred conclusion reflects the idea of informativene...

We continue the investigations in the author’s book on cardinal arithmetic, assuming some knowledge of it. We deal with the cofinality of (S≤א0 (κ),⊆) for κ real valued measurable (Section 3), densities of box products (Section 5,3), prove the equality cov(λ, λ, θ+, 2) = pp(λ) in more cases even when cf(λ) = א0 (Section 1), deal with bounds of pp(λ) for λ limit of inaccessible (Section 4) and g...
