Cardiac myxomas are the most common primary benign tumors of uncertain etiology. They usually present as polypoid or oval-shaped masses projecting into a heart chamber from the interatrial septum and have a soft, gelatinous consistency without a cystic structure. We report a case of left atrial myxoma with a single cystic form.
A 30 year old female admitted for evaluation of left chest pain was suspected to have multiple cardiac hydatid cysts. The diagnosis was established by cross sectional echocardiography and computed tomography, supported by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for echinococcosis. Medical therapy altered the echopattern of the cysts but failed to reduce cystic masses. Surgery was advocated bu...
Adnexal masses are spectrum of diseases from benign non neoplastic and neoplastic masses to malignant neoplasms. Endovaginal ultrasonography (US) is the fisrt and invaluable modality for assessment of adnexal masses because it is available and has a high negative predictive value. Important morphologic features are solid (vascularized) tissue, vascular and thick septations, and papillary projec...
Frost is one of the atmospheric phenomena which seriously threaten crop production. It also causes numerousaccidents in mountainous roads. In this research the Spatial Synoptic Classification SSC method was employed toclassify the type of air masses. For the classification, such meteorological data as: temperature, dew point, mean sealevel pressure, cloudiness, direction and speed of wind were ...
UNLABELLED The cardiovascular system is affected by a wide range of pathological processes, including neoplastic, inflammatory, ischemic, and congenital aetiology. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) are state-of-the-art imaging modalities used in the evaluation of these cardiovascular disorders. MRI has good spatial and temporal resolutions, tissue character...
BACKGROUND Primary tumors of the heart represent an exceedingly rare entity in cardiac surgery and literature regarding management and outcome is rare. The aim of this study was to translate 15 years of experience in both multimodal diagnosis and surgical treatment of one of the largest collective of patients in literature into a detailed analysis of patient prognosis, mean survival and best tr...
AIM OF THE WORK To evaluate the feasibility and possible additional value of transthoracic real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT3D-TTE) for the assessment of cardiac structures as compared to 2D-TTE. METHODS 320 patients (mean age 45 ± 8.4 years, 75% males) underwent 2D-TTE and RT3D-TTE using 3DQ-Q lab software for offline analysis. Volume quantification and functional assessment w...
INTRODUCTION A 66-years old man suffering from coronary artery disease appeared without symptoms for routine follow-up in our clinic. CASE DESCRIPTION The echocardiogram revealed a tumorous mass of the right atrium and right ventricle. In the past, coronary revascularization with venous grafts of the right coronary artery and circumflex artery as well as internal mammaria graft to the left an...
Mature male rainbow trout have significantly higher relative ventricle masses (RVM, ventricle mass as a percentage of body mass) than do immature males or females. Hatchery-reared maturing male trout had a mean RVM of 0.139%, whereas females had an RVM of only 0.074 %. Moreover, as males matured and their testes grew from 0.07 to 3.92 % of body mass, RVM more than doubled. In female trout no su...
BACKGROUND Based on a plenty of different applications, intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) is now a well-established technology in complex electrophysiological procedures. Recently, ICE has become the most widely used ultrasound-based imaging tool to guide diagnostic endomyocardial biopsy (EMB). EMB of cardiac mass guided by ICE is an interesting application of ICE. Allowing a correct position...
