The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of detecting root canal constrictions by using an apex locator. Seventy impenetrable canals in extracted human teeth were used. Based on contact microradiographic findings, they were divided into three groups: group A (constricted within 3 mm of the radiographic apex, 23 canals), group B (nonconstricted within 3 mm of the radiographic ape...
A case of unusual root morphology is presented to demonstrate anatomic variations in mandibular second molars. The most common configuration of mandibular second molar is to have two roots with three root canals; however mandibular molars may have many different combinations. Endodontic therapy was performed in a mandibular second molar with 3 separate roots 2 located mesially and one distally....
Multi-frequency radio polarimetric observations of the diffuse Galactic synchrotron background enable us to study the structure of the diffuse ionized gas via rotation measure maps. However, depolarization will introduce artifacts in the resulting rotation measure, most notably in the form of narrow, elongated “depolarization canals”. We use numerical models of a non-emitting Faraday rotating m...
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to compare the fracture resistance of roots obturated with different materials. STUDY DESIGN Sixty root canals were instrumented and divided into 4 equal groups (n = 15 each). The root canals in group 1 were filled with AH26 sealer and gutta-percha, in group 2 with Resilon and Epiphany, and in group 3 with Ketac-Endo Aplicap and gutta-percha. Fifteen root c...
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to examine the instrumented walls of root canals prepared with the ProTaper Universal rotary system. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty mesiobuccal canals of human first mandibular molars were divided into 2 groups of 10 specimens each and embedded in a muffle system. The root canals were transversely sectioned 3 mm short of the apex before preparation and remount...
Supports: Fondation Yves Cotrel pour la recherche en pathologie rachidienne. Institut de France, Paris. SHFJ/CEA Orsay in the frame of the cooperation through IFR 49 INSERM/CNRS France.-Membranous semi circular canals (SCC) modelling based on MRI revealed significant anomalies in IS patients compared to normal subjects-Frequent aplasias located in the lateral canal were found in IS.-We also dis...
INTRODUCTION This study evaluated the prepared surface areas of oval-shaped canals in distal roots of mandibular molars using four different instrumentation techniques. METHODS Teeth were prescanned and reconstructed using micro-computed tomography (MCT) scans at low resolution (68 microm). Forty-eight molars with ribbon-shaped/oval distal root canals were selected and randomly assigned to fo...
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to identify the influential factors responsible for clinical instrument separation of reused ProTaper Universal rotary instruments (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland). METHODS Six thousand one hundred fifty-four root canals in 2,654 teeth were prepared using ProTaper Universal files in endodontic clinics. Separation incidence was determined...
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the coronal microleakage of endodontically treated teeth prepared to receive an intracanal post and teeth with an intracanal post but without a prosthetic crown and exposed to contamination by fresh human saliva. MATERIAL AND METHODS A mechanical-chemical preparation following the step-back technique was carried out in 35 extracted single-roo...
Tooth root canals with endodontic treatment can be reinfected because the continued presence of Enterococcus faecalis biofilm. Many techniques has been proposed to eliminated this bacteria, however, these no offer fully elimination E. faecalis. In pilot study cold plasma was effective in inhibition biofilm infected tooth canals.
