Gluon distributions in the carbon and tin nuclei are investigated by using a Q 2 rescaling model with parton recombination effects. We obtain strong shadowings in the small x region due to the recombinations. The ratio G A (x)/G N (x) in the medium x region is typically 0.9 for medium size nuclei. At large x, the ratio becomes large due to gluon fusions from different nucleons. Comparisons with...

This work describes a label-free microarray analysis technique capable of detecting biomolecule target interactions with probes being anchored with a new linker-diluent system on indium-tin-oxide. The method is based on the differential work function characteristics of the substrate measured by a scanning Kelvin nanoprobe in terms of contact potential difference signals.

A review of the literature on nondestructive methods for objective assessment of maturity in mango was conducted. Most of the research conducted on this topic involved cultivars that are not currently marketed in the USA. A number of promising technologies exist for nondestructive assessment of mango maturity. Future research topics are proposed, with a focus on the mango cultivars that are cur...
This paper describes our first step for advances in humanmachine interactive systems for in-vehicle environments of the UTDrive project. UTDrive is part of an on-going international collaboration to collect and research rich multi-modal data recorded for modeling behavior while the driver is interacting with speech-activated systems or performing other secondary tasks. A simultaneous second goa...

Reductionist biology—examining individual brain parts, neural circuits and molecules—has brought us a long way, but it alone cannot explain the workings of the human brain, an information processor within our skull that is pe...
While many current vehicle network systems for body bus applications use event triggered analysis processes, the deterministic point of view raises concerns about system timing due to message latency. This paper studies the latency performance characteristics of a typical body bus vehicle network using event triggered analysis over the CAN bus.
