The availability of a new carry-less multiplication instruction in the latest Intel desktop processors significantly accelerates multiplication in binary fields and hence presents the opportunity for reevaluating algorithms for binary field arithmetic and scalar multiplication over elliptic curves. We describe how to best employ this instruction in field multiplication and the effect on perform...

In this paper, we present a high-speed pairing coprocessor using Residue Number System (RNS) which is intrinsically suitable for parallel computation. This work improves the design of Cheung et al. [11] using a carefully selected RNS base and an optimized pipeline design of the modular multiplier. As a result, the cycle count for a modular reduction has been halved. When combining with the lazy...

This paper proposes a genetic algorithm for designing combinational logic circuits and studies four different case examples: 2-to-1 multiplexer, one-bit full adder, four-bit parity checker and a two-bit multiplier. The objective of this work is to generate a functional circuit with the minimum number of gates.

The floating-point unit of a S/390 CMOS microprocessor is described. It contains a 116 bit fraction dataflow for addition and subtraction and a 64 bit-wide multiplier. Besides the register array, there are no other dataflow macros used; it is fully designed with standard cell books and is placed flat with a timing driven placement algorithm. This design method allows more ’irregular’ structures...

Physical limitations of Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductors (CMOS) technology at nanoscale and high cost of lithography have provided the platform for creating Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA)-based hardware. The QCA is a new technology that promises smaller, cheaper and faster electronic circuits, and has been regarded as an effective solution for scalability problems in CMOS technolog...

This paper presents a novel variable-latency multiplier architecture, suitable for implementation as a self-timed multiplier core or as a fully synchronous multi-cycle multiplier core. The architecture combines a 2 order Booth algorithm with a split carry save array pipelined organization, incorporating multiple row skipping and completion-predicting carry-select final adder. The paper reports ...

ABSTRACT : A circuit design for a low-power full adder array-based multiplier in domino logic is proposed. It is based on Wallace tree technique. Clocked architecture results in lower power dissipation and improvements in power-delay product. The proposed technique is general and can be used in all domino logic circuit designs. Higher order multipliers like 16x16, 32x32 may also be implemented ...

In this paper, we presented a feasible method of pipelined 4x4-bit array multiplier and evaluated the results by the flexible estimation methods, gate simulation or register-annotated simulation. The multiplier architecture is for low power and high speed applications. The experimental results indicated that this internal optimization reduced the power consumption of this circuit effectively.
