The current study aimed to examine the overall feasibility of the use of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) as a catalyst in ozonation process for the removal of benzene from aqueous solutions under experimental conditions. This experimental study was conducted on a laboratory scale reactor in a semi-batch mode. The effect of critical operating parameters such factors as pH, concentration of ...

Abstract Background: To establish a method for determination of in-cabin benzene and evaluate the occupational exposure, a cross-sectional study was conducted. Methods: In this descriptive study, 30 taxi-cabs were selected and the concentrations of benzene was measured in stopping and driving conditions using solid phase microinstruction (SPME) method. Results: The overall average conc...

There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(11)H(10)N(3)O(4)S(+)·NO(3) (-). All bond distances have normal values. The C-N bond distances in the sulfonamide group [1.389 (3) and 1.382 (3) Å] may indicate slight conjugation of the sulfonamide N-atom π-electrons with those of the pyridinium ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

BACKGROUND Hypersensitivity (HS) reactions to sulfonamide antibiotics occur uncommonly, but with potentially severe clinical manifestations. A familial predisposition to sulfonamide HS is suspected, but robust predictive genetic risk factors have yet to be identified. Strongly linked genetic polymorphisms have been used clinically as screening tests for other HS reactions prior to administratio...

Introduction Leishmaniasis is an endemic disease caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania. Current treatments for the parasite are limited by cost, availability and drug resistance as the occurrence of leishmaniasis continues to be more prevalent. Sulfonamides are a class of compounds with medicinal properties which have been used to treat bacterial and parasitic disease via various pathways...

In crystal structure of the title compound, C12H21N3O5S3 [systematic name: (R)-4-ethyl-amino-2-(3-meth-oxy-prop-yl)-3,4-di-hydro-2H-thieno[3,2-e][1,2]thia-zine-6-sulfonamide 1,1-dioxide], there exist three kinds of hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The sulfonamide group is involved in hydrogen bonding with the secondary amine and the meth-oxy O atom, resulting in the formation of layers parallel ...

Metal complexes of heterocyclic sulfonamides possessing carbonic anhydrase (CA) inhibitory properties were recently shown to be useful as intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering agents in experimental animals, and might be developed as a novel class of antiglaucoma drugs. Here we report the synthesis of a heterocyclic sulfonamide CA inhibitor and of the metal complexes containing main group metal i...

During a 2-month period in 1984, throat and blood samples were collected from 1,102 healthy persons of different ages living in the city of Tromsø, Norway. One hundred and eight persons (9.8%) were meningococcal carriers, but the carrier rate varied with sex and age. Twenty-nine isolates (26.9%) were of serogroup B, and 31 (28.7%) isolates contained the serotype 15 antigen. Sixty-eight (63.0%) ...

Secondary sulfonamides (4a-8h) incorporating acetoxybenzamide, triacetoxybenzamide, hydroxybenzamide, and trihydroxybenzamide and possessing thiazole, pyrimidine, pyridine, isoxazole and thiadiazole groups were synthesized. Lactoperoxidase (LPO, E.C.1.11.1.7), as a natural antibacterial agent, is a peroxidase enzyme secreted from salivary, mammary, and other mucosal glands. In the present study...
