This paper proposes a thorough investigation of the convergence of the volume averaging method described by Whitaker [The Method of Volume Averaging, Kluwer Academic, Norwell, MA, 1999] as applied to convection-diffusion problems inside a cylinder. A spectral description of volume averaging brings to the fore new perspectives about the mathematical analysis of those approximations. This spectra...

A linear mechanical system with constant matrix of dissipative forces and continuous bounded matrices positional is studied. It assumed that there are a large positive multiplier at the vector delay in forces. The case considered where associated delay-free averaged asymptotically stable. With aid Lyapunov direct method averaging method, conditions derived under which neither nor timevarying pe...

The aim of this paper is to propose and initially evaluate our novel algorithm which enables averaging of time-varying sequences of rotations with three degrees of freedom described by quaternions. The methodology is based on Dynamic Time Warping barycenter averaging (DBA) with one minus dot product distance function, Markley’s quaternions averaging method and Gaussian quaternion signal smoothi...

We develop a new approach that uses the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator in the selection of financial products. In doing so, we introduce the ordered weighted averaging distance (OWAD) operator and the ordered weighted averaging adequacy coefficient (OWAAC) operator. These aggregation operators are very useful for decision-making problems because they establish a comparison between an...

Ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operators and their extensions are powerful tools used in numerous decision-making problems. This class of operator belongs to a more general family of aggregation operators, understood as discrete Choquet integrals. Aggregation operators are usually characterized by indicators. In this article four indicators usually associated with the OWA operator are extende...

In this paper we show how the distribution of the discrete Choquet integral can be analytically computed. The advantage of having an analytical expression is that the value of the cumulative distribution function (cdf) can be computed exactly for the Choquet. We also derive an expression for the density of the Ordered Weighted Average (OWA) operator, which is a special case of the Choquet.

The ordered weighted average (OWA) is an aggregation operator that provides a parameterized family of operators between the minimum and the maximum. This paper presents the OWA weighted average distance operator. The main advantage of this new approach is that it unifies the weighted Hamming distance and the OWA distance in the same formulation and considering the degree of importance that each...
