Oysters were placed in an aquarium containing artificial seawater, and Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts were added. Oocysts were later found in the gill washings, hemocytes, and gut contents of the oysters. Hemocytes containing oocysts were intubated into four mice. C. parvum stages developed in the ileal epithelia of all of the mice, indicating that the oocysts in the hemocytes remained infective.
Infusoria are a group of aquatic organisms that are used to feed fish larvae. They are actually small forms of life in freshwater that include: Amoeba, Oglena, Green algae, Paramecium, Rotifer, Vertisella, and Invertebrates are small. Due to its small size, Infusoria can be used to breed newly hatched larvae of many aquarium fish species such as gourami and beta fish. Many home aquarium owners ...
The draft genome sequence of Chlorobium limicola strain Frasassi was assembled from metagenomic sequencing of a green mat in an artificially lighted aquarium inside the Frasassi caves in Italy. The genome is 2.08 Mbp in size and contains the necessary genes for anoxygenic photosynthesis and CO2 fixation.
INTRODUCTION: Hydrilla verticillata L.f. Royle (hydrilla; Hydrocharitaceae), an invasive submersed plant native to Southeast Asia and Australia, was first introduced into the US through the aquarium trade in Florida in the 1950s (Schmitz et al. 1991). Hydrilla impacts freshwater resources in the US by its aggressive, canopy-forming growth that degrades aquatic ecosystems, limits recreation, fou...

Non-invasive sampling techniques are increasingly being used to monitor glucocorticoids, such as cortisol, as indicators of stressor load and fitness in zoo and wildlife conservation, research and medicine. For cetaceans, exhaled breath condensate (blow) provides a unique sampling matrix for such purposes. The purpose of this work was to develop an appropriate collection methodology and validat...
