Aspect oriented programming (AOP) is “the missing link” to allow you slice a system, use case by use case, over “all” lifecycle models. This will dramatically change the way complex systems are understood, how new features are added to systems, and how systems are implemented and tested. AOP will also add a new dimension of reuse to software development. And it is here to be harvested—now.

A dataflow-based pointcut is proposed for aspect-oriented programming (AOP) languages. The pointcut specifies where aspects should be applied based on the origins of values. It is designed to be compatible with the other kinds of pointcuts in existing AOP languages. Primary application fields of the pointcut are the aspects in which flow of information is important, such as security. This paper...

This study presents a novel strategy that employs quantitative structure–activity relationship models for nanomaterials (Nano-QSAR) predicting transcriptomic pathway level response using lung tissue inflammation, an essential key event (KEs) in the existing adverse outcome (AOP) fibrosis, as model response. Transcriptomic profiles of mouse lungs exposed to ten different multiwalled carbon nanot...

One of the Climate Absolute Radiance and Refractivity Observatory Pathfinder (CPF) mission’s science objectives is to intercalibrate reflective solar bands NOAA-20 Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument against high-accuracy CPF measurements utilizing coincident, co-angled, co-located footprints acquired over diverse Earth targets. To alleviate effect high polarization sen...

The purpose of this paper is to assess the advantages and disadvantages of a state of the art programming paradigm, called Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP for short) for building component-based systems. For the purposes of this comparison, several other approaches based on the AOP methodology will be examined, in matters of efficiency, ease of programming, robustness, and other important metr...

This paper describes preliminary work towards a Visual Aspect-Oriented Programming (VAOP) environment specifically for Resource-Constrained real-time Embedded Systems (RCES). VAOP is an extension of Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) in which some aspect languages are visual. AOP is an evolving paradigm for implementing software [15][17]. It is based on the realization that different parts of a ...

This paper describes a revision to the design of Agent-Oriented Programming (AOP) that introduces the concept of a role. The proposed AOP framework introduces the notion of a role template and describes how these templates can be used to engender code reuse. We then use this framework to extend the ALPHA programming language and illustrate the use of this extension via a simple case study.

Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP) offers means to automatically transform some existing base code to endow it with new properties. An aspect language allows the desired transformation to be specified and an aspect weaver reads the specification of the transformation expressed in the aspect language and applies it to the base code. AOP techniques allow systematic changes – insertion of synchroni...

We tackle the problem of robust dialogue processing from the perspective of language engineering. We propose an agent-oriented architecture that allows us a flexible way of composing robust processors. Our approach is based on Shoham’s Agent Oriented Programming (AOP) paradigm. We will show how the AOP agent model can be enriched with special features and components that allow us to deal with c...

Agent-Oriented Programming (AOP) provides an effective level of abstraction for tackling the programming of mainstream software applications, in particular those that involve complexities related to concurrency, asynchronous events management and context-sensitive behaviour. In this paper we support this claim in practice by discussing the application of AOP technologies – Jason and CArtAgO in ...
