A novel type of leaf-like poly (p-phenylenediamine) (PpPD) microcrystal was prepared under mild conditions, which was successfully applied to the visual detection of Co(2+)in vitro and in tissue based on the extinction and light scattering features owing to the special etching effect of Co(2+) on the surface of the leaf-like microcrystal.
an investigation into oral interaction in language classes: a conversation analytic point of view the aim of this thesis is to analyze the interaction between language teachers and students in english language institutes. this work is done in the context of yasuj city. learning another language, which is in most cases english, involves many variables. one of these variables is the linguistic...
Two-band algorithms that use the ratio of reflectances at 672 and 704 nm have already proved successful for chlorophyll a retrieval in a range of coastal and inland waters. An analysis of the effect of reflectance measurement errors on such algorithms is made. It provides important indications of the range of validity of these algorithms and motivates the development of an entirely new type of ...
The title of the reported project is “Nordic Nuclear Safety Research (NKS) Workshop on Knowledge Management in Nordic NPPs”. One important objective of this workshop was to explore if and how knowledge retention activities could be coordinated between the various Nordic utilities. The main conclusions of the workshop can be summed up as follows: Establishing good knowledge management routines i...
One approach to user experience (UX) is phenomenology, but there are no well-defined methods for how to conduct UX research using phenomenology, especially not in a professional design practice. One well-defined approach developed in psychology is Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), which in this paper is adapted to professional UX research practice. The adaptation is put to test in...
A new optical mode of propagation is described, which is the natural eigenmode (supermode) of a fiber (or any optical waveguide) with two cospatial periodic gratings. The mode frustrates the backward Bragg scattering from the grating by destructive interference of its two constituent submodes (which are eigenmodes of a uniform waveguide). It can be used in a new type of spatial mode conversion ...
This paper is an investigation of S. Wolfram’s Principle of Computational Equivalence’ – that (discrete) systems in the natural world should be thought of as performing computations. We take a logical approach, and demonstrate that under almost trivial (physically reasonable) assumptions, discrete evolving physical systems give a class of logical models. Moreover, these models are of intuitioni...
Let G be a split adjoint semisimple group over Q and K∞ ⊂ G(R) a maximal compact subgroup. We shall give a uniform, short and essentially elementary proof of the Weyl law for cusp forms on congruence quotients of G(R)/K∞. This proves a conjecture of Sarnak for Q-split groups, previously known only for the case G = PGL(n). The key idea amounts to a new type of simple trace formula.
A new type of apo-Tf functionalized nanochannel is developed to achieve the specific and selective binding and unbinding of Fe(3+) in a multiple and reversible manner via a protein-conformation-gating mechanism. This ion-responsive biomimetic nanochannel provides a simple, robust, and promising model for studying other biological processes.
We introduce a new type of solitary wave in a lossless single-mode fiber in which a bright solitonlike pulse in the anomalous-dispersion range propagates together with a stationary dark pulse in the normal-dispersion range. Such a solitary wave can be generated by launching a bright pulse in the anomalous-dispersion range together with a long pulse of the same speed in the normal-dispersion ran...
