We calculate the lower moments of the deep-inelastic structure functions of the pion and the rho meson on the lattice. Of particular interest to us are the spin-dependent structure functions of the rho. The calculations are done with Wilson fermions and for three values of the quark mass, so that we can perform an extrapolation to the chiral limit.

We report on the scaling of basic hadronic observables in lattice QCD with N f = 2 maximally twisted Wilson dynamical quarks. We give preliminary results for some of the Gasser–Leutwyler low energy constants, the chiral condensate and the average mass of u and d quarks.

An effective residual interaction for a meson-meson system is computed in lattice QCD. We describe the theoretical framework and present its application to the I = 2 channel S-wave interaction of the π–π system. Scattering phase shifts are also computed and compared to experimental results.

We provide a brief introduction to the high density effective theory of QCD. As an application, we consider the instanton correction to the perturbatively generated gap in the color superconducting phase. We derive a universality result for the fermionic contribution to the one loop vacuum polarisation in Lattice QCD. This leads in turn to a universality result for the fermionic contribution to the leading term in the weak coupling expansion of the Lattice QCD β-function. A general formula for the fermionic contribution to the ratio of lattice and continuum Λ-parameters is also obtained.

We compute the static-light meson spectrum using two-flavor Wilson twisted mass lattice QCD. We have considered five different values for the light quark mass corresponding to 300 MeV < ∼ m PS < ∼ 600 MeV. We have extrapolated our results, to make predictions regarding the spectrum of B and B s mesons.

Kaon physics is an area in which lattice QCD can have an important impact in Phenomenology. I review the recent progress and current status of three particular topics: kaon beta-decay, the kaon B-parameter and the non-leptonic decay of the kaon into two pions.
