Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Psyllidae), the Asian citrus psyllid, is the insect vector of Ca. Liberibacter asiaticus, the causal agent of citrus greening disease. Sequencing of the D. citri metagenome has been initiated to gain better understanding of the biology of this organism and the potential roles of its bacterial endosymbionts. To corroborate candidate endosymbionts previously identifie...
Citrus canker is a citrus disease species that created by the bacterium Xanthomonas citri subsp.citri. Many citrus, such as oranges, lime, and grapefruit are affected by the infectious bacteria and stems, leaves and fruits are experiencing loss. In this experiment antibacterial effects of five kinds of antibiotics including ampicillin, kanamycin, chloramphenicol, penicillin, streptomycin, Crono...
Alpha-amino-acid ester hydrolases are multimeric enzymes of potential use in antibiotic production. Knowledge of their structure could help to engineer these enzymes into economically viable biocatalysts. The alpha-amino-acid ester hydrolases from Xanthomonas citri and Acetobacter turbidans have been crystallized. The X. citri enzyme crystallizes in a primitive monoclinic space group (unit-cell...
Xanthomonas citri subsp citri (Xcc) is responsible for one of the most destructive diseases of citrus fruits, Asiatic citrus canker. Based on the bacterial host range, the pathogenic forms, A, A*, and Aw have been identified. A*-type strains are not well characterized and they have been reported to differ from other A-type strains on the basis of biochemical and genetic characteristics. In this...
A novel flavi-like virus tentatively named Diaphorina citri flavi-like virus (DcFLV) was identified in field populations of Diaphorina citri through small RNA and transcriptome sequencing followed by reverse transcription (RT)-PCR. We report here the complete nucleotide sequence and genome organization of DcFLV, the largest flavi-like virus identified to date.
