Because syntactic structures and spans of multiword expressions (MWEs) are independently annotated in many English syntactic corpora, they are generally inconsistent with respect to one another, which is harmful to the implementation of an aggregate system. In this work, we construct a corpus that ensures consistency between dependency structures and MWEs, including named entities. Further, we ...

Through-space isotropic NMR shielding values of a perpendicular diatomic hydrogen probe moved in a 0.5 Å grid 2.5 Å above several polycyclic aromatic/antiaromatic ring and aromatic/aromatic hydrocarbons were computed with Gaussian 03 at the GIAO HF/6-31G(d,p) level. Combinations of benzene fused with cyclobutadiene, with the tropylium ion, and with the cyclopentadienyl anion were investigated. ...

The issue of flexibility of multiword expressions (MWEs) is crucial towards their identification and extraction in running text, as well as their better understanding from a linguistic perspective. If we project a large MWE lexicon onto a corpus, projecting fixed forms suffers from low recall, while an unconstrained flexible search for lemmas yields a loss in precision. In this talk, I will des...

Multimedia content is8 designed for many purposes and the services that are associated with them rely heavily on technologies that address representatiom, processing, and transmission of that content. This paper presents a new model that refines the multimedia documents for mobile environments while integrating information technology components to address strict requirements. We present new way...

This was the first time that RGU had participated in the HARD track, and indeed in TREC. We were interested in investigating the effect of exploiting the topic metadata to re-rank our initial baseline run, in a similar fashion to that of Rutgers in TREC 2003 [Belkin et al, 2003]. We used the Lemur toolkit (LTK) to obtain a baseline ranking, using title and description for each topic, and using ...

Multi Sentence Compression (MSC) is of great value to many real world applications, such as guided microblog summarization, opinion summarization and newswire summarization. Recently, word graph-based approaches have been proposed and become popular in MSC. Their key assumption is that redundancy among a set of related sentences provides a reliable way to generate informative and grammatical se...

This paper investigates the notion of an ensemble artefact. This concept is proposed by Sein et al (2011) in their description of the Action Design Research method. This concept is based on the ensemble view of IT artefacts, which is described by Orlikowski & Iacono (2001) together with four other views. The conceptual journey from ensemble view to ensemble artefact is found problematic and is ...

We present a novel representation, evaluation measure, and supervised models for the task of identifying the multiword expressions (MWEs) in a sentence, resulting in a lexical semantic segmentation. Our approach generalizes a standard chunking representation to encode MWEs containing gaps, thereby enabling efficient sequence tagging algorithms for featurerich discriminative models. Experiments ...

In this paper we explore how two existing collaborative filtering algorithms can be enhanced by the calculation of demographic correlations among the members of user or item neighborhoods. Experiments are executed to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach. Their results show that demographic data can, in some cases, lead to the generation of more accurate predictions.
