RATIONALE Human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) offer a powerful in vitro tool to investigate disease mechanisms and to perform patient-specific drug screening. To date, electrophysiological analysis of iPSC-CMs has been limited to single-cell recordings or low-resolution microelectrode array mapping of small cardiomyocyte aggregates. New methods of generating an...
the problem of propagation of plane wave including body and surface waves propagating in a transversely isotropic half-space with a depth-wise axis of material symmetry is investigated in details. using the advantage of representation of displacement fields in terms of two complete scalar potential functions, the coupled equations of motion are uncoupled and reduced to two independent equations...
abstract pragmatics is the study of communicative action in its sociocultural context. communicative action includes not only using speech acts (such as apologizing, complaining, complimenting, and requesting), but also engaging in different types of discourse and participating in speech events of varying length and complexity. the present study aimed to investigate the assessment of pragm...
In this thesis, I study propagation of gravitons in the shock wave geometry in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence, with the goal to uncover some constraint on the supergravity action in the AdS space. In studying the shock wave geometry in an anti-deSitter (AdS) space, I find that the functional form of the shock wave metric does not receive a' correction, but the wave profile does. Then...

The techniques we present can be e...
In 1880, Burdon-Sanderson and Page recorded the ECG of the frog simultaneously with monophasic action potentials from the base and the apex of the left ventricle (LV).1 Part of the ventricular muscle was injured with a hot wire, and monophasic action potentials were recorded as the potential difference between the injured region and an uninjured area. The ECG was recorded with a capillary elect...
Tension leg platforms are compliant structures for oil extraction in deep water consisting of hull, deck foundation, tendons and risers. The hull is very important part of a TLP from functionality, weight and cost point of views that is made of vertical column and horizontal pontoon with circular and rectangular sections. The hull geometry plays very important rule in optimum action of the stru...
We correlated primary T wave changes with the changes of monophasic action potentials (MAP) recorded with suction electrodes from the ventricular surface of the dog heart following systemic or intracoronary infusions of small doses of isoproterenol (ISP). The portions of the heart perfused with ISP were excised and weighed to determine the mass of perfused tissue. ISP shortened the ventricular ...

A computer model for simulation of surface ECG that enables to study heart repolarization changes is introduced. It includes heart geometry and structure description, predefined elemental action potential forms and enables computation of ECG potentials on the surface of an inhomogeneous torso. The influence of the action potentials form on the STT part and T-wave of ECG signals is demonstrated.
