Recent experimental data provides evidence for neutrino masses and leads to the possibility of leptonic mixing and CP violation. In this work special attention is dedicated to CP violation in the leptonic sector both at low and at high energies in the framework of seesaw with only three righthanded neutrinos added to the Lagrangean of the Standard Model. It is shown that leptogenesis is a possi...

We have predicted CP violation in the long baseline accelerator experiments taking into consideration the recent LSND data and the atmospheric neutrino data. By using both data, we can get unambiguous results for CP violation. Those data prefer the mass hierarchy m3 ≃ m2 ≫ m1 with m3 = O(1eV) and the flavor mixings |Ue1| ≃ 1 and |Uμ1| ≪ 1. The estimated upper bound of CP violation is 0.006, whi...

We study the possible existence of a real Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix, with CP violation originating from physics beyond the standard model (SM). We show that present experimental data allow for a real CKM matrix provided that new physics also contributes to ∆mBd by at least 20% of the SM contribution (for ρ > 0), besides generating CP violation in the kaon sector. The naturalness of...

We present an analysis of the decayD0→K+π− based on FOCUS data. From a sample of 234 signal events, we find a branching ratio of Γ(D →Kπ) Γ(D0→K−π+) = (0.429 − 0.061 ± 0.027)% under the assumptions of no mixing and no CP violation. Allowing for CP violation, we find a branching ratio of (0.429 ± 0.063 ± 0.028)% and a CP asymmetry of 0.18± 0.14± 0.04. The branching ratio for the case of mixing w...

The CP violation played an important role in the understanding of the intimate nature of the weak interaction from the early times of particle physics. After more than three decades since the discover of CP violation in the neutral kaons by Christenson, Cronin, Fitch and Turlay [1] a new kind of CP violation, the so called Direct CP violation that happens directly in the decay, was definitively...

In this letter we introduce a possible measure of the size of CP violation in the Standard Model and its extensions, based on quantities invariant under the change of weak quark basis. We also introduce a measure of the " average size " of CP violation in a model, which can be used to compare the size of CP violation in models involving extra sequential or vector-like quarks, or left-right symm...

We review what has been learned about CP violation in the K system. It is natural to hypothesize that the observed CP-violating effects are caused by the Standard Model weak interaction. We describe the stringent future test of this hypothesis via experiments on the B system. Then, we see how new physics beyond the Standard Model could be revealed by this test. 1. What do we already know? Befor...
