Ulnar neuropathy at the wrist is rarely reported as complications of carpal tunnel release. Since it can sometimes be confused with recurrent median neuropathy at the wrist or ulnar neuropathy at the elbow, an electrodiagnostic study is useful for detecting the lesion in detail. We present a case of a 51-year-old woman with a two-week history of right ulnar palm and 5(th) digit tingling sensati...

Variations of the median nerve and ulnar artery have been well documented in the literature. In the present case, splitting of the median nerve by the ulnar artery is presented. Our literature searches revealed that there was no article, to our knowledge, describing such splitting. We think that this variation should be kept in mind during surgical and diagnostic procedures.

One of the main principles in hand surgery is the restitution of sensation in fingers which seems hard or impossible in extensive hand traumas especially in war injuries. In this article transfer of sensory branch of radial nerve to sensory branch of median (in 25 cases) and to sensory branch of ulnar nerve (for the first time in literature and in 12 cases) is reported. Operative technics and r...

[Purpose] Ulnar nerve neuropathies are the second most commonly seen entrapment neuropathies of the upper extremities after carpal tunnel syndrome. In this study, we aimed to evaluate pain among ulnar neuropathy patients by the Leeds assessment of neuropathic symptoms and signs pain scale and determine if it correlated with the severity of electrophysiologicalfindings. [Subjects and Methods] We...

Background: Type II diabetes mellitus is a common problem and is sometimes associated with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) due to compression of median nerve at wrist. Electrophysiological tests are frequently used for its diagnosis. In this work, F-wave minimal latency (FWML) difference between median and ulnar nerve and F-ratio is used to facilitate the diagnosis and severity of CTS in type II d...

a recorded nerve signal via an electrode is composed of many evokes or action potentials, (originated from individual axons) which may be considered as different initial sources. recovering these primitive sources in its turn may lead us to the anatomic originations of a nerve signal which will give us outstanding foresights in neural rehabilitations. accordingly, clinical interests may be r...

Cubital tunnel syndrome, or ulnar nerve compression at the elbow, is the most common entrapment of the ulnar nerve and the second most common compressive nerve lesion of the upper extremity after carpal tunnel syndrome (1). Conservative treatment in early and mild cases consists of anti-inflammatory medications, elbow splinting, and modifications of sleep and work habits and elbow positions. Wh...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate, in patients with ulnar neuropathy at the elbow (UNE), if ultrasonographic differences in ulnar nerve size correlate with severity score determined by electrodiagnostic studies. METHODS We examined prospectively 38 patients (50 elbows) with UNE. Patients were classified into mild, moderate and severe groups according to electrodiagnostic studies. Cross-sectional areas (...

Most studies on the effects of lead on the peripheral nerves used "current' blood lead levels of the workers and infer the nerve conduction's findings to it. This practice is not ideal as the toxicity of lead on the peripheral nerves occurs over a period of time. Seventy-two workers in a lead battery manufacturing factory and 82 referents were studied with the aim of (1) correlating the nerve c...
