We discuss how the presence of gauge subsystems in the Bacon-Shor code [D. Bacon, Phys. Rev. A 73, 012340 (2006)10.1103/PhysRevA.73.012340 (2006)] leads to remarkably simple and efficient methods for fault-tolerant error correction (FTEC). Most notably, FTEC does not require entangled ancillary states, and it can be implemented with nearest-neighbor two-qubit measurements. By using these method...

The amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) assay is an efficient method for the identification of molecular markers, useful in the improvement of numerous crop species. Bulked Segregant Analysis (BSA) was used to identify AFLP markers associated with water-stress tolerance in barley, as this would permit rapid selection of water-stress tolerant genotypes in breeding programs. AFLP marker...

The reaction of TCNE and TCNQ zwitterionic benzoquinonemonoimine derivatives under basic conditions resulted in HCN elimination to give a tricyanoethenyl derivative - which forms a π-complex with Pd(0)--or a stable malodinitrile salt, respectively. In the latter case, chemoselective C-alkylation was observed whereas oxidation led to dimerization by C-C coupling.

Method 2. (Modification of Napier, 1922.) Here instead of four drops of blood being taken directly from the patient's finger at the time of the test, as done by Napier, an equal quantity of previously collected blood was put into a small test tube containing c. c. of citrated saline (Formula : sod. cit. 0.5 grm., sod. chlor. 0.9 grm., and water 100 c. c.). After adding a drop of formalin, it wa...

We propose a novel DTN routing algorithm, called DQN, specifically designed for quasideterministic networks with an application to satellite constellations. We demonstrate that our proposal efficiently forwards the information over a satellite network derived from the Orbcomm topology while keeping a low replication overhead. We compare our algorithm against other wellknown DTN routing schemes ...

In this paper, we address the problem of routing in delay tolerant networks (DTN). In such networks there is no guarantee of finding a complete communication path connecting the source and destination at any time, especially when the destination is not in the same region as the source, which makes traditional routing protocols inefficient in that transmission of the messages between nodes. We p...

These studies demonstrate that mice tolerant to human gamma globulin (HGG) regain their ability to make antibody to HGG after parabiosis to normal mice. This can be demonstrated by enumeration of PFC in the spleens of both the normal and tolerant partners. Hemagglutinin titers of normal-tolerant parabionts, however, are exceptionally low; serum antibody appears to be neutralized by circulating ...
