We study theoretically the spin response functions using the relativistic many body theory. The spin response functions in the relativistic theory are reduced largely from the ones of the non-relativistic theory. This happens particularly to the longitudinal spin responses. This fact is able to remove the difficulty in reproducing the ratio of the longitudinal and transverse response functions ...

introduction: a desirable characteristic of root canal irrigants is the ability of dissolving soft tissues. sodium hypochlorite, an antibacterial and tissue solvent irrigant used in endodontic treatment is known to be toxic for periapical tissues. chlorhexidine gluconate, an effective antimicrobial agent, is another irrigant with limited tissue dissolving ability. a mixture of a tetracycline is...

A dramatic temperature dependent enhancement of U 5f spectral weight at EF is observed in angle-resolved photoemission measurements of URu2Si2 at the center of an X-point hole-pocket. Comparison of this temperature dependent behavior for excitation both at and below the U 5d→5f resonant threshold is presented.

We performed angle-resolved photoemission experiments on overdoped single crystal Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8+x samples with Tc values as low as 55K and very narrow transitions as measured by AC susceptibility. The photoemission data indicate the presence of a " shadow " peak in the quasiparticle spectral function A(ω) shifted by (π, π) from the conventional quasiparticle peak. The ratio of the shadow...

The classical integral cross sections of large superfluid 4He N droplets and the number of atoms in the droplets (N = 103 − 104) have been measured in molecular beam scattering experiments. These measurements are found to be in good agreement with the cross sections predicted from density functional calculations of the radial density distributions with a 10–90% surface thickness of 5.7Å. By usi...

We re-analyze the effect on the spectral tail of a gravity wave propagating in a shearing background. The contribution to the spectrum of horizontal wind perturbations for low vertical wavenumbers comes from the Doppler shifting with a -1 slope and for high wavenumbers from the leakage effect with slopes ranging between -4 to -2. If leakage is not present, it becomes necessary to consider the t...

Production and decay angular distributions were extracted from measurements of exclusive electroproduction of the ρ(770) meson over a range in the virtual photon negative four-momentum squared 0.5 < Q < 4 GeV and the photon-nucleon invariant mass range 3.8 < W < 6.5 GeV. The experiment was performed with the Hermes spectrometer, using a longitudinally polarized positron beam and a He gas target...
