In the present work, an integrated method of pole shape design optimization for reduction of torque pulsation components in permanent magnet synchronous motors is developed. A progressive design process is presented to find feasible optimal shapes. This method is applied on the pole shape optimization of two prototype permanent magnet synchronous motors, i.e., 4-poles/6-slots and 4-poles-12slots.

Integration of distributed generation (DG) into distribution networks causes some protection challenges, which can be solved by appropriate coordination of directional overcurrent relays. The optimal coordination of directional overcurrent relays is an important task to fulfill the protection requirements of the network. This paper presents an optimal coordination method for directional overcur...

this paper represents the performance of a squirrel-cage high temperature superconducting induction/ synchronous motor (hts-ism) based on nonlinear electrical equivalent circuit. the structure of the hts-ism is the same as that of the squirrel-cage type induction machine, and the secondary windings are fabricated by the use of the hts wires. it has already been shown that based on the experimen...

A 27-year-old man treated 2.5 years ago for synchronous multicentric giant cell tumor of bone located at the right proximal humerus and the right 5th finger presented now with complaints of pain in his right hip and wrist of two-month duration. Radiology and magnetic resonance revealed multicentric giant cell tumor lesions of the right proximal femur, the left ileum, the right distal radius, an...

Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALToma) is a subtype of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, comprising ∼17% of all gastrointestinal (GI) tract lymphomas. It is associated with chronic inflammation and autoimmunity, for example Helicobacter pylori gastritis and Sjogren's syndrome, respectively. Approximately 50% of GI MALTomas occur in the stomach, with small bowel and colonic lesions be...

Encapsulated papillary ductal carcinoma (EPC) of the breast is a rare form of cancer with defining histopathology of encapsulation. These lesions are typically indolent but may rarely have concomitant, synchronous invasive lesions. This report details a 56-year-old black female who presented with a palpable left breast mass. Adenosis with focal fibrous and ductal hyperplasia characteristics were...

CONTEXT Ampullary adenocarcinomas and bile duct cancers represent a very small minority of all gastrointestinal malignancies. Synchronous presentation of both malignancies is extremely rare. CASE REPORT We report a case of a 76-year-old male who presented with painless jaundice. His work-up showed an ampullary mass and a separate common bile duct stricture. Attempted endoscopic resection esta...

Patients with multiple malignant primary tumours are often described, based on their chronology of presentation, as simultaneous, synchronous or metachronous tumours. Lung malignancies presenting in association with head and neck tumours are well documented while there have been small series of thyroid synchronous cancers presenting with laryngeal lesions in literature. No cases, to our knowled...

BACKGROUND Squamous cell carcinoma of the lung is a common cancer with 95% mortality at 5 years. These cancers arise from preinvasive lesions, which have a natural history of development progressing through increasing severity of dysplasia to carcinoma in situ (CIS), and in some cases, ending in transformation to invasive carcinoma. Synchronous preinvasive lesions identified at autopsy have bee...

Surgical repair of a Bankart lesion requires thorough recognition of the capsulolabral attachment and adequate visualization for suture anchor repair. The glenoid labrum usually detaches from its capsule and bony attachment anteriorly and inferiorly; however, the labral and capsule detachment can sometimes extend beyond this zone of injury. Identification and repair may require additional viewi...
