We present a method for vision-based recovery of threedimensional structures through simultaneous model reconstruction and camera position tracking from monocular images. Our approach does not rely on robust feature detecting schemes (such as SIFT, KLT etc.), but works directly on intensity values in the captured images. Thus, it is well-suited for reconstruction of surfaces that exhibit only m...

We present an algorithm for simultaneous reconstruction of optical parameters, quantum yield, and lifetime in turbid media with embedded fluorescent inclusions. This algorithm is designed in the Fourier domain as an iterative solution of a system of differential equations of the Helmholtz type and does not involve full ill-conditioned matrix computations. The approach is based on allowing the u...

We introduce a new methodology for radiometric reconstruction from multiple images. It opens new possibilities because it allows simultaneous recovery of varying unknown illuminants (one per image), surface albedoes, and cameras’ radiometric responses. Designed to complement geometric reconstruction techniques, it only requires as input the geometry of the scene and of the cameras. Unlike photo...

Simultaneous positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (PET-MR) is an innovative and promising imaging modality that is generating substantial interest in the medical imaging community, while offering many challenges and opportunities. In this study, we investigated whether MR surface coils need to be accounted for in PET attenuation correction. Furthermore, we integrated moti...

In this paper, we present an iterative algorithm for reconstructing a three-dimensional density function from a set of two dimensional electron microscopy images. By minimizing an energy functional consisting of a fidelity term and a regularization term, an L(2)-gradient flow is derived. The flow is integrated by a finite element method in the spatial direction and an explicit Euler scheme in t...

Parallel Magnetic Resonance Imaging allows to reduce image acquisition time by subsampling the data in k-space using an array of surface coils. The subsampling using surface coils results in modulated and aliased images which have to be post-treated to reconstruct the image. In this paper we perform a structural study for simultaneous recovery of the unknown coil sensitivities and reconstructio...

We introduce a methodology for radiometric reconstruction, the simultaneous recovery of multiple illuminants and surface albedoes from multiple views, assuming that the geometry of the scene and of the cameras is known. We formulate the linear theory of multiple illuminants and show its similarities with the theory of geometric recovery of multiple views. Linear and non-linear implementations a...

Pixel matching is an important step in 3D reconstruction. Among all existing methods, we take a closer look at the ones using seed propagation. They start from a set of reliable matches (seeds) and look for a correspondent of the neighbors of a seed in the neighborhood of this seed correspondent. There are two kinds of approaches: sequential and simultaneous. In this paper, we give a state of t...

Model based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) algorithms have been used in clinical studies to allow significant dose reduction in CT scans while maintaining the diagnostic image quality. Simultaneous-update algorithms, which can take advantage of massively parallel computer architectures, are promising to significantly improve the speed of MBIR. To achieve this goal, we also need to improve the ...

In this paper we propose an approach for simultaneous identification of the absorption density and the speed of sound using photoacoustic measurements. Experimentally our approach can be realized with sliced photoacoustic experiments. The mathematical model for such an experiment is developed and exact reconstruction formulas for both parameters are presented.
