Compact Circularly Polarized Slot-Ring Antenna and Microstrip Bandpass Filter Using Triangular Open-Loop Resonators. (December 2006) Muhammad Fahad Farooqui, B.E., NED University Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Kai Chang In this thesis two different research topics are undertaken, both in the area of compact RF/microwave circuits design. The first topic involves the design of a compact circula...
Micro Strip Antenna Array has been proposed with high efficiency for wireless communication. Micro strip antenna arrays are widely used in various applications like in wireless communication system, satellite communication, Radar systems, Global positioning systems, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMax), Rectenna applications, Telemedicin...
This paper proposes a patch antenna array as an alternative feed for dish antennas on board satellites to solve the weight problem constituted by conventional feed horns. An 8x1 linear, C-Band, circular patch antenna array configuration with a broadside radiation pattern is designed as feed for a dish antenna with F/D ratio of 0.36 corresponding to aperture illumination of 140. The result of an...
The rapid development of various kinds of aerospace application systems requires the appropriate high-accuracy time and frequency standard. In order to establish suitable time and frequency standard in aerospace, based on the establishment of aerospace satellite visual model, we simulate the satellite visual time of 3-layer satellite constellation, including GEO satellite(Geostationary Earth Or...
Spaceborne GNSS-R (global navigation satellite system reflectometry) is an innovative and powerful bistatic radar remote sensing technique that uses specialized GNSS-R instruments on LEO (low Earth orbit) satellites to receive GNSS L-band signals reflected by the Earth’s surface. Unlike monostatic radar, the illuminated areas are elliptical regions centered on specular reflection points. Evalua...
The various perturbing structures for generation of circular polarization (CP) in a hexagonal shaped microstrip antenna (HMSA) with patch side length of 20 mm is used to resonate in the Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) band at a centre frequency of 2 GHz. The hexagonal geometry to achieve CP is perturbed in four different ways: first with a rectangular slot at centre, second with two narrow slits...
• Using adaptive nulling, an antenna system can reconfigure the receive antenna to produce nulls at the locations of any interference sources. Typically, two generic types of adaptive nulling antennas are considered: the thinned phased array and the multiple-beam antenna. The thinned phased array has excellent nulling resolution but is not a good candidate for area coverage. The multiple/beam a...

We report 32 GHz absolute flux density measurements of the supernova remnant Cas A, with an accuracy of 2.5%. The measurements were made with the 1.5-meter telescope at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory. The antenna gain had been measured by NIST in May 1990 to be 0.505 ± 0.007 Jy . Our observations of Cas A in May 1998 yield Scas,1998 = 194± 5 Jy. We also report absolute flux density measurem...
