ABSTRACT We present the integral-field kinematics and stellar population properties of 64 galaxies (61 are Early-Type galaxies; ETGs) with Counter-Rotating Disks (CRD) selected from about 4000 in MaNGA survey, based on evidence counter-rotation or two velocity dispersion peaks kinematic maps. For 17 CRDs, counter-rotating components can also be separated spectroscopically. The frequency CRDs is...

The photometric variations due to magnetically confined material around He-strong stars are investigated within the framework of the Rigidly Rotating Magnetosphere (RRM) model. For dipole field topologies, the model is used to explore how the morphology of light curves evolves in response to changes to the observer inclination, magnetic obliquity, rotation rate and optical depth. The general re...

Expanding upon recent applications of interfacing electricity with centrifugal microfluidic platforms, we introduce electrochemical velocimetry to monitor flow in real-time on rotating fluidic devices. Monitoring flow by electrochemical techniques requires a simple, compact setup of miniaturized electrodes that are embedded within a microfluidic channel and are connected to a peripherally-locat...

We investigate the effects of compressibility andwall cooling on the stationary, viscous (Type II) instability mode within the 3D boundary layer over rotating cones with half-angle greater than 40◦. The stationary mode is characterised by zero shear stress at the wall and a triple-deck solution is presented in the isothermal case. Asymptotic solutions are obtained which describe the structure o...

The transverse velocities of steadily rotating, non–axisymmetric patterns in flat galaxies may be determined by a purely kinematical method, using two dimensional maps of a tracer surface brightness and radial current density. The data–maps could be viewed as the zeroth and first velocity moments of the line–of–sight velocity distribution, which is the natural output of integral– field spectrog...

Membrane bioreactors (MBRs) are now main stream wastewater treatment technologies. In recent times, novel pressure driven rotating membrane disc modules have been specially developed that induce high shear on the membrane surface, thereby reducing fouling. Previous research has produced dead-end filtration fouling model which combines all three classical mechanisms that was later used by anothe...

The present work proposes a collocation spectral method for solving the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations using cylindrical coordinates. The whole diameter −R ≤ r ≤ R is discretized with an even number of radial Gauss-Lobatto collocation points and an angular shift is introduced in the Fourier transform that avoid pole and parity conditions usually required. The method keeps the spectra...

Hgl -,Cd,Te and Cdl -,Zn,Te single crystals were grown by the travelling heater method (THM), applying two different techniques of artificially stirring the solution zone. Accelerated crucible rotation (ACRT) was used in a vertical growth arrangement and compared a technique with constant rotation around the horizontal axis of the ampoule. The dominant hydrodynamic mechanisms of both methods ar...

This paper present a simulation of motion interpretation of trochoid path generated by a single point on a rotating disc translating in the frontoparallel plane of the visual eld. The process involves two mechanisms. First, the extraction of relative motion in a group motion and second the presence an attention mechanism. Speci cally, the paper present neural simulation results for cycloidal mo...

We present an XMM-Newton observation of the radio-quiet quasar Q0056-363 (z=0.162). This is the first time that this quasar is observed in the hard X-ray range (above 2 keV). We find that Q0056-363 is a powerful X-ray quasar, with a 0.3–12 keV unabsorbed luminosity of about 1.2 × 10 45 erg s −1 with the largest part (∼ 67%) emitted below 2 keV. The spectrum reveals a large featureless soft X-ra...
