Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging reporter genes (IRGs) and PET reporter probes (PRPs) are amongst the most valuable tools for gene and cell therapy. PET IRGs/PRPs can be used to non-invasively monitor all aspects of the kinetics of therapeutic transgenes and cells in all types of living mammals. This technology is generalizable and can allow long-term kinetics monitoring. In gene ther...

Synthetic genetic analysis was improved by eliminating leaky expression of the HIS3 reporter and gene conversion between the HIS3 reporter and his3Delta1. Leaky expression was eliminated using 3-aminotriazole and gene conversion was eliminated by using the Schizosaccharomyces pombe his5+ gene, resulting in a 5- to 10-fold improvement in the efficiency of SGA.

BACKGROUND Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) is used extensively as a reporter for transgene expression in Drosophila and other organisms. However, GFP has not generally been used as a reporter for circadian patterns of gene expression, and it has not previously been possible to correlate patterns of reporter expression with 3D movement and behavior of transgenic animals. RESULTS We present a v...

Objective(s): Polyethylenimine (PEI) is one of the most widely used polymers in gene delivery. The aim of this study was to modify PEI by replacing some of its primary amines with Brevinin 2R (BR-2R) peptide in order to increase the efficiency of gene delivery.Materials and Methods: Polyethylenimine was modified by BR-2R peptide by two d...

Breast cancer is a complex genetic disease that has an average annual incidence of two million people and the second leading cause of death among women all over the world. Micro-RNAs are consistently reported to regulate gene expression in all cancers. The present study, the correlation between the expression of hsa-miR-490-5p and nuclear factor of activated T-cells 5 (NFAT5) in breast cancer w...

Molecular imaging aims to visualize the cellular and molecular processes occurring in living tissues, and for the imaging of specific molecules in vivo, the development of reporter probes and dedicated imaging equipment is most important. Reporter genes can be used to monitor the delivery and magnitude of therapeutic gene transfer, and the time variation involved. Imaging technologies such as m...
