BACKGROUND Although resident physicians often teach, few trials have tested interventions to improve residents' teaching skills. A pilot trial in 2001-2002 found that 13 trained resident teachers taught better than did untrained control residents. OBJECTIVE To determine whether a longitudinal residents-as-teachers curriculum improves residents' teaching skills. DESIGN Randomized, controlled...
Chronic health conditions are overrepresented among jail or prison inmates but often go untreated during incarceration and following release. We describe the Bronx Transitions Clinic, a partnership between a community-based organization and an academic medical center, which facilitates connections to medical care for formerly incarcerated people.

To conduct high-quality state-of-the-art research, clinical and translational scientists need access to specialized core facilities and appropriately trained staff. In this time of economic constraints and increasing research costs, organized and efficient core facilities are essential for researchers who seek to investigate complex translational research questions. Here, we describe efforts at...
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of health care-associated infections. In this study, a total of 173 nurses was screened for S aureus nasal colonization, of which 8 (4.6%) were MRSA carriers. Among the MRSA isolates, 6 were mecA positive and oxacillin resistant, and 2 were mecA-positive, oxacillin-susceptible (OS-MRSA) strains. Reports of the OS-MRSA strains a...
