We present the 2 − 200 µm Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) spectrum and 3.8 − 20 µm ISAAC and TIMMI2 images of the extreme OH/IR star IRAS 16342-3814. Amorphous silicate absorption features are seen at 10 and 20 µm, together with crystalline silicate absorption features up to almost 45 µm. No other OH/IR star is known to have crystalline silicate features in absorption up to these wavelengths. ...

The rate coefficients are calculated for trap loss due to excited state formation during s-wave collisions of two atoms in a light field in a cold atomic gas near conditions for formation of a Bose-Einstein condensate. Blue detuning from the allowed atomic resonance transition causes excitation of a replusive molecular potential, whereas red detuning causes excitation when the light is tuned ne...

In this paper, the effects of time delay and packet loss incurred in communication channel, are examined on the performance of bilaterally controlled hydraulic actuators under various control schemes. The controllers are force reflection (FR), position error (PE), combined force reflection and position error (FP), and four channels (FC). The performance of each control scheme is evaluated by pe...

The IR loss in diffuse measurements made by thermopile pyranometers is examined. Diffuse measurements are used for the study of IR losses because diffuse irradiance is much smaller than the total irradiance and hence the IR effects can be more clearly seen. Specifically, diffuse measurements of an Eppley PSP pyranometer are compared to those made with a Schenk Star pyranometer. Pyranometers wit...

Tubular cavity receivers offer excellent prospects as low-cost, high-efficiency heat collection elements for paraboloidal dish solar-thermal concentrators, as well as for central tower systems. Major heat loss mechanisms for these receivers are convection and radiative emission, as well as reflection and spillage (non-capture). Compared to glazed receivers, convection heat loss can be quite a l...

We present a method for measuring the transmission loss of an optical fiber using simplified correlation-domain reflectometry. By intentionally lowering spatial resolution system, we observe Rayleigh scattered signal first time without need frequency shifter. Using this method, simultaneously measure loss, location, and faulty connections along 10-km-long under test by performing distributed re...

We have successfully prepared Fe3O4/MWCNT nanohybrid with a very simple and economical method. Multi-Walled Carbon NanoTubes (MWCNT) encapsulated with Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized via pyrolyzing of ferrocene. The sample was characterized with XRD, TEM and Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). Also, Permeability (µ) and Permittivity (ε) were...

Chevalley’s theorem and it’s converse, the Sheppard-Todd theorem, assert that finite reflection groups are distinguished by the fact that the ring of invariant polynomials is freely generated. We show that in the Euclidean case, a weaker condition suffices to characterize finite reflection groups, namely that a freely-generated polynomial subring is closed with respect to the gradient product. ...

Spatial moisture distribution in natural soil or other material is a valuably information for many applications. Standard measurement techniques give only mean or punctual results. Therefore a new inversion algorithm has been developed to derive moisture profiles along single TDR sensor-probes. The algorithm uses the full information content of TDR reflection data measured from one or both side...

aim: it seems that positive outcomes resulting from the autonomy in the job, is dependent on a number of factors. autonomy means the interdependence and freedom of staff in planning and organizing work and it has different levels. the aim of current research is to investigate the role of task reflection in relation of autonomy and skill utilization. method: the research sample consisted of 324 ...
