OBJECTIVE Exposure to radon is associated with approximately 10% of U.S. lung cancer cases. Geologic rock units have varying concentrations of uranium, producing fluctuating amounts of radon. This exploratory study examined the spatial and statistical associations between radon values and geological formations to illustrate potential population-level lung cancer risk from radon exposure. METH...

Indoor radon concentrations were measured in 77 schools of the prefecture of Xanthi in northern Greece. The arithmetic mean radon concentration is 231 Bq m(-3) with a range between 45 and 958 Bq m(-3). Thirty five schools have mean radon concentration above 200 Bq m(-3) and nine schools have mean radon concentration above 400 Bq m(-3). From continuous radon gas measurements in the school with a...

Radon (Rn) is a naturally occurring radioactive element, a noble gas that is produced in radium disintegration. Radon has the biggest contribution to the effective dose obtained by population. Increased morbidity of lung cancer in uranium miners and an observation that radon exposure in certain houses may be comparable to the exposure in uranium mines have caused the increase of interest in rad...

A basic measure of the combinatorial complexity a convexity space is its Radon number. In this paper we answer question Kalai, by showing fractional Helly theorem for spaces with bounded As consequence also get weak ε-net This answers Bukh and extends recent result Moran Yehudayoff.

We measured radon (222Rn) concentrations in Iowa and Minnesota and found that unusually high annual average radon concentrations occur outdoors in portions of central North America. In some areas, outdoor concentrations exceed the national average indoor radon concentration. The general spatial patterns of outdoor radon and indoor radon are similar to the spatial distribution of radon progeny i...

to demonstrate more visibly the close relation between thecontinuity and integrability, a new proof for the banach-zareckitheorem is presented on the basis of the radon-nikodym theoremwhich emphasizes on measure-type properties of the lebesgueintegral. the banach-zarecki theorem says that a real-valuedfunction $f$ is absolutely continuous on a finite closed intervalif and only if it is continuo...

Estimates for the decay of Fourier transforms of measures have extensive applications in numerous problems in harmonic analysis and convexity including the distribution of lattice points in convex domains, irregularities of distribution, generalized Radon transforms and others. Here we prove that the spherical L-average decay rate of the Fourier transform of the Lebesgue measure on an arbitrary...

We describe a duality method to prove both existence and uniqueness of solutions to nonlocal problems like (−∆)v = μ in R , with vanishing conditions at infinity. Here μ is a bounded Radon measure whose support is compactly contained in RN , N ≥ 2, and −(∆)s is the fractional Laplace operator of order s ∈ (1/2, 1).

This paper discusses hyperbolic behavior of Jacobi fields along billiard flows on multidimensional Reimannian manifolds. A class of generalized differential operators associated with the impulsive equations (generalized Jacobi equations) are defined using a new Radon measure. We investigate the hyperbolic behavior of functions in the null-space of the operator by applying operator theory.

background: in iran, architectures are often unaware of the risk of radon inhalation and how to reduce radon levels. furthermore, radon considerations are not implemented in construction methods, construction materials and building utilization by regulatory authorities. materials and methods: in this study after reviewing the meteorological changes of ramsar over the past 50 years (1955-2005), ...
