A great loss of transportation capacity has been caused in auto parts supply logistics due to the independent from suppliers (APSs) automobile production line (APL). It is believed that establishing distribution centers (DCs) for centralized collection and unified one effective way address this problem. This paper proposes a framework simultaneously considering location-inventory-routing proble...

Global warming has focused attention on how the world produces energy required to power planet. It driven a major need move away from using fossil fuels for production toward cleaner and more sustainable methods of producing renewable energy. The development offshore windfarms, which harness wind, is seen as viable approach creating but they can be difficult design efficiently. complexity their...

This paper describes the combination of previously-developed component placement and routing algorithms into an integrated computational approach to product layout optimization. Previ ous work introduced simulated annealing-based algorithms for optimal component packing (Szykman and Cagan, 1995), con strained layout (Szykman and Cagan, 1997), and routing (Szyk man and Cagan, 1996). These proble...

In production processes, just-in-time (JIT) completion of jobs helps reduce both the inventory and late delivery of finished products. Previous research which aims to achieve JIT job completion mainly worked on static scheduling problems, in which all jobs are available from time zero or the available time of each job is known beforehand. In contrast, dynamic scheduling problems which involve c...

In almost 10 years we have used Open Source Routers in mission critical networking to bring Internet connectivity to many tens of thousands users. Needless to say Uppsala University is one of the largest universities in Sweden and it is a well-connected university. It is currently using four Gigabit (including two for its student network UpUnet-S) connections towards our ISP (SUNET), and a prod...

1 Many high-speed networks are in a development stage, compared to established technologies like Ethernet. Use of these networks for production service provides substantial benefits to the developers, e.g., for large-scale testing. However, most users are not tolerant of pre-production network outages, even in exchange for the higher bandwidth these networks afford. This paper describes ISI's e...

Childhood asthma is typically associated with a polarized Th2 response to inhaled allergens and is influenced by genetics. Yang et al. show that the asthma susceptibility gene DENND1B controls cytokine production in Th2 lymphocytes by controlling the rate of TCR internalization and routing to endosomes, providing a molecular basis for how DENND1B contributes to asthma pathogenesis.
