Problem solving is defined as a response given in an important and difficult situation, where critical thinking is required for a solution. Problem solving skills determine a person's ability to relate productively. This research was to determine the perceived problem solving ability and values of student nurses and midwives. It was planned as a descriptive research project in the University of...
OBJECTIVE To examine whether an individualized problem-solving intervention provided to family caregivers of persons with severe disabilities provides benefits to both caregivers and their care recipients. DESIGN Family caregivers were randomly assigned to an education-only control group or a problem-solving training (PST) intervention group. Participants received monthly contacts for 1 year....
BACKGROUND Social problem-solving therapy may be relevant in the treatment of personality disorder, although assessments of its effectiveness are uncommon. AIMS To determine the effectiveness of a problem-solving intervention for adults with personality disorder in the community under conditions resembling routine clinical practice. METHOD Participants were randomly allocated to brief psych...
This paper examines whether manuals provide adequate help for users who are experiencing a problem. First, an outline is given of the main stages in problem-solving. This outline offers a broad framework for the two studies of current practice that follow. The first study focuses on the accessibility of help. It examines how often manuals fail to offer the right keywords, and how often they hav...

We present a new dynamic programming formulation for the stochastic multi-stage serial inventory system based on the cost of sub-system with fewer stages. A heuristic based on judiciously selected common downstream holding costs requires solving one newsvendor problem per stage. A closed form approximate upper bound allows for accurate sensitivity analysis. 1
In this work, we propose a hybrid simulation optimization approach that addresses the problem of supply chain management. We formulated the problem as a mathematical model which minimizes the summation of production cost, transportation cost, inventory holding and shortage costs, subject to capacity and inventory balance constraints and propose a hybrid approach combining mathematical programmi...
