primitive neuroectodermal tumor (pnet) is usually an aggressive, rapidly progressing and metastasizing tumor. occurrence of this type of tumor in the kidney is considered as unusual and few cases have been reported so far. we present a metastatic pnet arising probably from the kidney in a 17-year-old female patient with local invasion and metastasis to the stomach. pnet should be considered as ...

the primitive neuroectodermal tumor (pnet) belongs to a group of highly malignant tumors and is composed of small round cells of a neuroectodermal origin. categorized in the same tumor family as ewing sarcoma, the pnet is most likely to occur in bones and soft tissues. however, a small number of pnet cases arising in the pelvis have been reported as well. we present three cases of pelvic pnet: ...

IT was Sir Winston Churchill who remarked in 1944, when addressing the Royal College of Physicians, that "the longer you can look back, the further you can look forward." Probably in no field is this more true than in the biological sciences. An understanding of their evolution in a historical sense at once provides a perspective and a background to knowledge which illuminates the path to furth...

This paper describes the design, development, and sea testing of a Mission Control System for the MARIUS Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). The design methodology builds on the key concept of Vehicle Primitive, which is a parameterized specification of an elementary operation performed by the vehicle. A Vehicle Primitive is obtained by coordinating the execution of a number of concurrent Syst...

This paper concerns the prefix-primitive (shortly, p-primitive) conjugates of related primitive words. The non-p-primitive conjugates of square-free words are studied. We show that every d-primitive square-free word over an alphabet with three elements has at most one non-p-primitive conjugate. We also find that all the conjugates of a primitive word are nor p-primitive.

The problem of compensation of infinite-dimensional actuator or sensor dynamics of more complex type than pure delay was solved recently using the backstepping method for PDEs. In this paper we construct an explicit feedback law for a multi-input LTI system which compensates the wave PDE dynamics in its input and stabilizes the overall system. Our design is based on a novel infinite-dimensional...

SUMMARY This paper proposes a robust state observer for multi-input multi-output LTI systems. Unknown inputs of polynomial form and high-frequency measurement noises are considered in the system model. The unknown inputs and the noises are not in the same form. Multiple integra-tions of both the observer error signal and the measurement output are used for the observer design. The existence con...

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi had a knack for identifying the simplest of things which would have an impact on the masses. He knew that food and clothing mattered the most to the impoverished millions in India. The Dandi March was a clarion call to defy the salt laws. The Swadeshi enterprise with khadi as the dominant theme showed Gandhi's immense skill at effective mobilization. This paper would ...

P olicies aimed at reducing inequalities in the healthcare domain in France tend to be focused on access to healthcare, either by extending Statutory Health Insurance coverage (Universal Health Insurance Coverage (CMU) known as "basic" coverage, and State Medical Aid (AME), or by extending complementary health insurance coverage (complementary CMU and financial assistance for the acquisition of...
