Bacillus subtilis Miz-8 is isolated from Bekang, a traditional fermented soybean food of Mizoram, India. Here, we report computationally analyzed strain mapped to the annotated genome reference subsp. natto BEST195. has circular chromosome and small plasmid with size 4105264 bp 5838 bp, respectively. Genome contains genes responsible for synthesis biosynthetic metabolites like surfactin, fengyc...

Gram-negative bacteria release Outer Membrane Vesicles (OMVs) into the extracellular environment. Recent studies recognized these vesicles as vectors to horizontal gene transfer; however, parameters that mediate OMVs transfer within bacterial communities remain unclear. The present study highlights for first time of plasmids containing resistance genes via derived from Klebsiella pneumoniae (K....

Abstract Background Until recently, metronidazole was the first-line treatment for Clostridioides difficile infection and it is still commonly used. Though resistance has been reported due to plasmid pCD-METRO, this does not explain all cases. Objectives To identify factors that contribute plasmid-independent of C. difficile. Methods Here, we investigate in a collection clinical isolates using ...

Rhodococcus equi is a facultative intracellular, Gram-positive, soilborne actinomycete which can cause severe pyogranulomatous pneumonia with abscessation in young horses (foals) and in immunocompromised people, such as persons with AIDS. All strains of R. equi isolated from foals and approximately a third isolated from humans contain a large, ~81-kb plasmid which is essential for the intramacr...

Understanding the role of miRNAs in regulating the molecular mechanisms responsive to drought stress was studied in Paulownia "yuza 1." Two small RNA libraries and two degradome libraries were, respectively, constructed and sequenced in order to detect miRNAs and their target genes associated with drought stress. A total of 107 miRNAs and 42 putative target genes were identified in this study. ...

A mechanism for stable maintenance of plasmids, besides the replication and partition mechanisms, has been found to be specified by genes of a mini-F plasmid. An oriC plasmid carrying both a mini-F segment necessary for partition [coordinates 46.4-49.4 kilobase pairs (kb) on the F map] and another segment (42.9-43.6 kb), designated ccd (coupled cell division), is more stably maintained than are...

Plasmid ColVBtrp maintenance in Erwinia carotovora cells was followed by measuring kinetics of elimination of plasmid genetic markers and loss of plasmid deoxyribonucleic acid. An E. carotovora mutant stably carrying plasmid ColVBtrp was isolated. Besides stable plasmid maintenance, the mutant showed altered sensitivity to male-specific phage MS2, sensitivity to drugs, and colony morphology.

Nucleotide sequence comparison of the related 13513-bp plasmid pFV1 and the 11014-bp plasmid pFZ1 from the thermophilic archaeon Methanobacterium thermoformicicum THF and Z-245, respectively, revealed a homologous, approximately 8.2 kb backbone structure that is interrupted by plasmid-specific elements. Various highly conserved palindromic structures and an ORF that could code for a NTP-binding...

YCp19 is a yeast centromere plasmid capable of autonomous replication in both yeast and E. coli (J. Mol. Biol., 158: 157-179, 1982). It is stably maintained as a single copy in the yeast cell and is therefore a model yeast "minichromosome" and cloning vector. We have located the positions and measured the abundance of the in vivo yeast transcripts from YCp19. Transcripts from the selectable mar...

We studied the segregational stability of plasmids based on pTB913, a 4.5-kb rolling-circle plasmid derived from the thermophilic Bacillus plasmid pTB19. In Bacillus stearothermophilus the stability of pTB913 derivatives appeared to be strain-dependent. In strain CU21 large amounts of single-stranded pTB913 DNA were found and the plasmid was highly unstable at 57 degrees C. In strain NUB3621, h...
