We present a framework that considers global routing, repeater insertion, and flip-flop relocation for early interconnect planning. We formulate the interconnect retiming and flip-flop placement problem as a local area constrained retiming problem and solve it as a series of weighted minimum area retiming problems. Our method for early interconnect planning can reduce and even avoid design iter...

OBJECTIVE To examine the putative moderating role of self-efficacy in the intention-planning-behavior relationship. METHODS In N=812 individuals, intentions (independent variable) were assessed at baseline, whereas action plans (mediator), self-efficacy (moderator), and physical activity (dependent variable) were measured again 4 weeks later. We examined a moderated-mediation model. RESULTS...

In an effort to reduce the global burden of non-communicable disease, the World Health Organization released a Global Strategy for Diet and Physical Activity in May 2004. This commentary reports on the development of the strategy and its importance specifically for physical activity-related work of NGOs and researchers interested in increasing global physical activity participation. Sparked by ...

This paper describes an international effort to unify a multimodal behavior generation framework for Embodied Conversational Agents (ECAs). We propose a three stage model we call SAIBA where the stages represent intent planning, behavior planning and behavior realization. A Function Markup Language (FML), describing intent without referring to physical behavior, mediates between the first two s...

This study applies recent advances in 3D virtual imaging for application in the prediction planning of dentofacial deformities. Stereo-photogrammetry has been used to create virtual and physical models, which are creatively combined in planning the surgical correction of anterior open bite. The application of these novel methods is demonstrated through the surgical correction of a case.

Enabling is a concept central to health promotion. It is perceived as a mechanism that can help people gain control over determinants of health. Little is known, however, about enabling among policy-makers and professionals. This case study investigates enabling among policy-makers and professionals who engaged in a specific participatory approach, cooperative planning. We define 'enabling' as ...

A high proportion of published health promotion research on physical activity is descriptive, and there is a need formore published intervention research. Although travel planning has been described as a promising way to promote population-level physical activity, a Cochrane systematic review of organisational travel plan interventions for improving health identified 17 studies, 12 of which wer...

Systems subject to (continuous) physical effects and controlled by (discrete) digital equipments, are today very common. Thus, many realistic domains where planning is required are represented by hybrid systems, i.e., systems containing both discrete and continuous values, with possibly a nonlinear continuous dynamics. The PDDL+ language allows one to model these domains, however the current to...
