By T. J. GREENWALT AND V. E. AYERS T HE DISTRIBUTION of phosphate compounds in acid extracts of the erythrocytes of infants has heretofore been investigated only by fractional analysis for inorganic, total and hydrolyzable phosphates.1 In our previous work hydrolysis of trichloracetic acid extracts of cord blood erythrocytes was used to characterize the following fractions : ( 1 ) labile phosph...

Fructosamine 3-kinase (FN3K), an enzyme initially identified in erythrocytes, catalyses the phosphorylation of fructosamines on their third carbon, leading to their destabilization and their removal from protein. We show that human erythrocytes also contain FN3K-related protein (FN3K-RP), an enzyme that phosphorylates psicosamines and ribulosamines, but not fructosamines, on the third carbon of...

An inositol-requiring strain of Neurospora crassa was labelled during growth in liquid medium with [3H]inositol, and the levels of inositol phosphates and phosphoinositides were determined under inositol-sufficient and inositol-starved conditions. Because the mutant has an absolute requirement for inositol, the total mass of inositol-containing compounds could be determined. Inositol-containing...

Biofortification of commonly eaten staple food crops with essential mineral micronutrients is a potential sustainable solution to global micronutrient malnutrition. Because phytic acid (PA; 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakis myo-inositol) reduces mineral micronutrient bioavailability, reduction of PA levels could increase the bioavailability of biofortified iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (M...

This paper is based on a research on the problems of salt attack and rising damp in heritage masonry buildings. Amongst common building defects occurrences in heritage buildings, salt attack and rising damp are considered as the most challenging, particularly in building conservation. Rising damp and salt attack, a worldwide phenomenon, are major causes of decay to masonry materials. Moisture a...

A variety of metabolic intermediates of the glycolytic pathway and tricarboxylic acid cycle have been found to be inhibitors of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase isolated from sheep liver. All nucleoside 5’-triphosphates and 5’diphosphates are inhibitors with Ki values averaging 0.8 mM, nucleoside 5’-monophosphates are also inhibitory with Ki values averaging 6 mu. The 2’and 3’monophosphates of ...

Administration of anethole at 10 and 50 mg doses caused significant reduction in seminal vesicle weight, RNA and protein concentrations and contents and acid phosphates activity. However, there was significant increase in DNA concentrations and in the activities of alkaline phosphates and lactate dehydrogenase. The effects were more pronounced in the group receiving 50 mg of anethole.

Introduction: Iodine deficiency and associated disorders, which lead to a wide range of clinical manifestations, have been raised as one of the health and nutritional problems in Iran. Therefore, this study was aimed to investigate the amount of iodine in distributed salts in Abarkouh city in 2017-2018. Materials and Methods: Random sampling was done by census on all 30 distributed brands in A...
