Peripheral odontogenic tumors (POTs) are uncommon, and even rarer in the pediatric population. A peripheral odontogenic fibroma (PODF) is the most numerous POT in the general and pediatric populations. The purpose of this paper was to report an unusual case of PODF in a very young child who was born at 29 weeks’ gestation. The literature on PODFs in the pediatric population is reviewed.

Chloroethylnitrosoureas (CENUs) are commonly used in the treatment of pediatric and adult central nervous system (CNS) tumors. The antitumor activity of CENUs has been hypothesized to be due to an alkylation occurring at the 06-position of guanine in DNA. The DNA repair protein 06-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) is responsible for the repair of these potentially cytotoxic lesions and...

While remarkable advances have been made in the treatment of pediatric leukemia over the past decades, new therapies are needed for children with advanced solid tumors and high-grade brain tumors who fail standard chemotherapy regimens. Pediatric brain tumors including medulloblastoma and atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor are associated with significant mortality and treatment-associated morbidity. While medulloblastoma tumors within molecular subgroups 3 and 4 have a propensity to metastasize, atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors frequently afflict a very young patient population. Adjuvant treatment options for children suffering...
