In this paper we consider the problem of optimizing the order in which source relations are joined in information gathering plans. This problem differs significantly from the traditional database query optimization problem, as sources on the Internet have a variety of access limitations and the execution cost in information gathering is affected both by network traffic and by the connection set...

In this paper we shall discuss with the optimal ordering policy for two warehouse inventory model of non-instantaneous deteriorating items and stock-dependent demand. Here shortage is not allowed. Here the holding and deteriorating costs in both warehouses are different and assumed that the holding cost in the RW(rented warehouse) than in the OW(owned warehouse) the optimal solution are shown. ...

Using a generalization of Scarf's K-convexity, we are able to show that the optimal policy for the periodic review inventory problem with xed ordering costs and nite capacity has an (s; S)-like structure. In particular, we are able to divide the parameter space into four regions. In two of these regions the optimal policy is completely speci ed. In the other two, it is partially speci ed.

This paper proposes a new parallelized incomplete Cholesky conjugate gradient (ICCG) solver effective on a smallscale multiprocessor system. The new method is based on a new reordering technique, namely the block red-black ordering method. Its parallel performance is evaluated in a finite edge-element eddycurrent analysis. A numerical test shows that the proposed method is effective on a small ...

Consider a single commodity inventory system in which the demand is modelled by a sequence of i.i.d. random variables that can take negative values. Such problems have been studied in the literature under the name cash management and relate to the variations of the on-hand cash balances of financial institutions. The possibility of a negative demand also models product returns in inventory syst...

this study presents a detailed analysis of cost management for intensive cultivation activity in terms of tomato production. the main objective was to provide qualitative and quantitative costs obtained in the intensive cultivation of tomato. this methodology was structured by activity costs (soil preparation and planting, crop monitoring, harvesting, selling, etc.) through a study in greenhous...

‎We consider nonconvex vector optimization problems with variable ordering structures in Banach spaces‎. ‎Under certain boundedness and continuity properties we present necessary conditions for approximate solutions of these problems‎. ‎Using a generic approach to subdifferentials we derive necessary conditions for approximate minimizers and approximately minimal solutions of vector optimizatio...

Multiset orderings are a key ingredient in certain termination techniques like the recursive path ordering and a variant of size-change termination. In order to integrate these techniques in a certifier for termination proofs, we have added them to the Isabelle Formalization of Rewriting. To this end, it was required to extend the existing formalization on multiset orderings towards a generaliz...

Most periodic review models in the inventory literature have assumed a fixed length of the review periods. In this note, we extend the work of Chiang (2008) , and consider backlogged and lost-sales periodic review models where the review periods are of a variable length and there is a fixed cost of ordering for replenishment. Assuming that period lengths are independently and identically distri...

Laboratory test overutilization increases health care costs, leads to unwarranted investigations, and may have a negative impact on health outcomes. The American Society of Clinical Pathology, in its Choosing Wisely Campaign, advocates that inflammation be investigated with C-reactive protein (CRP) instead of Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR). London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), a tertiary...
