The performance of Fiber-Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) depends upon several workload parameters; for example; the arrival pattern, frame size, and con guration parameters, such as the number of stations on the ring, extent of the ring, and number of stations that are waiting to transmit. In addition, the performance is a ected by a parameter called the Target Token Rotation Time (TTRT), whi...

Network security administrators cannot always accurately tell which end-to-end accesses are permitted within their network, and which ones are not. The problem is that every access is determined by the configurations of multiple, separately administer...

While recon gurable computing promises to deliver incomparable performance, it is still a marginal technology due to the high cost of developing and upgrading applications. Hardware virtualization can be used to signi cantly reduce both these costs. In this paper we describe the bene ts of hardware virtualization, and show how it can be acheived using a combination of pipeline recon guration an...

Security is a major concern for organizations who wish to leverage cloud computing. In order to reduce security vulnerabilities, public cloud providers o‚er €rewall functionalities. When properly con€gured, a €rewall protects cloud networks from cyber-aŠacks. However, proper €rewall con€guration requires intimate knowledge of the protected system, high expertise and on-going maintenance. As a r...

Partial recon guration is a special case of device con guration that allows to change only parts of a hardware circuit at run-time. Only a prede ned region of an FPGA is updated while the remainder of the device continues to operate undisturbed. This is especially valuable when a device operates in a missioncritical environment and cannot be disrupted while a subsystem is rede ned for performan...

Let G be a group and X be a G-space with the action G X ! X, (g; x) 7! gx. A subset F of X is called a kaleidoscopical con guration if there exists a coloring : X ! C such that the restriction of on each subset gF , g 2 G, is a bijection. We present a construction (called the splitting construction) of kaleidoscopical con gurations in an arbitrary G-space, reduce the problem of characterization...

| This paper attempts to study the bifurcation phenomena of a system of parallel-connected dc/dc boost converters. In particular, it is shown that simple averaged models can be used to predict the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation in such systems. The results provide important information for the design of stable current sharing in a master-slave con guration.

1. Uni ed eld theories suggest a N dimensional conguration space with N̄ = N−4 > 0 extra dimensions not perceived in nature. The common heuristic reasons for this proposition are: (i) the volume [Hausdor measure] does not scale like μH(δ,R ) = δ μH(1,R ), where δ is some length scale and 1 stands for its unity. Instead, experience tells us that increasing (or decreasing) the spacial size of an o...

In this paper, we provide a su cient condition for asymptotic stability of a system with a single time delay in a state expressed as an linear matrix inequality(LMI). We consider a time delay as a inverse uncertainty con guration.
