Cell fate determination and differentiation are central processes in the development of multicellular organisms, and the Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) root epidermis provides a model system to study the molecular basis of these processes. A lateral inhibition mechanism mediated by an R3 single-repeat MYB protein, CAPRICE (CPC), has been proposed to explain the specification of the two type...

Tillage influences N fate and transport by changing soil structure, aeration, macropore continuity, plantresidue placement, and organic-matter mineralization rates. Our objective was to use 15-year N budgets to compare four primary tillage treatments for continuous corn (Zea mays L.) production on tile-drained Aquic Hapludolls (FAO: Haplic Phaeozems) in northeastern Iowa, USA. A carbon-based N ...

Fluctuations may govern the fate of an interacting particle system even on the mean-field level. This is demonstrated via a three species cyclic trapping reaction with a large, yet finite number of particles, where the final number of particles N(f) scales logarithmically with the system size N, N(f) approximately ln N. Statistical fluctuations, that become significant as the number of particle...

We propose a systematic methodology to construct a probabilistic epigenetic landscape of cell-fate attainment associated with N-node Boolean genetic regulatory networks. The general derivation proposed here is exemplified with an Arabidopsis thaliana network underlying floral organ determination grounded on qualitative experimental data.

Anthropogenic emissions of nitrogen (N) to the atmosphere have been strongly increasing during the last century, leading to greater atmospheric N deposition to the oceans. The North Atlantic subtropical gyre (NASTG) is particularly impacted. Here, upwind sources of anthropogenic N from North American and European sources have raised atmospheric N deposition to rates comparable with N2 fixation ...

By studying string loop corrections to superpotential of type II strings compactified on Calabi-Yau threefolds we find a quantum stringy test and a confirmation of a recent proposal of Strominger on the fate of the conifold singularity. We also propose a connection between the spectrum of Bogomolnyi saturated solitons and one-loop string partition function of N = 2 topological strings.

18 Methylation at the N 6 position of adenosine (m 6 A) is a highly prevalent and reversible 19 modification within eukaryotic mRNAs that has been linked to many stages of RNA processing 20 and fate. Recent studies suggest that m 6 A deposition and proteins involved in the m 6

Cell-fate decisions are tightly linked to cellular energy status. In this issue, Yi et al. (2011) introduce a mechanism by which Bcl-xL lowers the threshold for apoptosis by suppressing acetyl-CoA production, which, in turn, suppresses the N-alpha-acetylation important for activation of the proapoptotic protease caspase-2.

minoo ’s ahriman is a term for discovering ahriman in the world of minoo: a world where it’s creatures are invisible, undesirable, and without a body . in this article, minoo’s ahriman in the avesta and the pahlavi texts are surveyed. in gahan, ahriman exists as the evil nature as opposed to the good nature that leads to his creation in the haftha. in new avesta the minavi existence continues w...

nowadays, scientific c findings in the field of regeneration of nervous system have revealed the possibility of stem cell based therapies for damaged brain tissue related disorders like stroke. furthermore, to achieve desirable outcomes from cellular therapies, one needs to monitor the migration, engraftment, viability, and also functional fate of transplanted stem cells. magnetic resonance ima...
